Northrop Grumman has an opening for a Sentinel (GBSD) Flight & Ground Test Manager 3 to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals.

This manager will lead a diverse team of Engineers, Technicians, and subcontractors performing flight testing of the Sentinel (GBSD) missile weapon system.

This role is responsible for technical and programmatic execution of development test and test operations and will be located in Vandenberg SFB, CA.

What you will get to do:
  • Manage and lead multiple campaign teams consisting of flight test engineers who perform system-level tests on the Sentinel Aerospace Vehicle and Launch Equipment
  • Lead or direct test operations to make missile launch equipment and air vehicle equipment ready for flight test, developing detailed test procedures, and conducting acceptance testing.
  • Responsible for overseeing control account managers, statement of work mapping, contract compliance, company policy adherence, metrics collection, and reporting
  • Develop, perform, and document tests, including test planning, test conduct, data analysis and post-test results as part of the Flight Test Team
  • Participate in technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost, schedule, risk, and supportability/effectiveness analyses for systems
  • Review and evaluate test requirements to ensure completeness and compliance of the test program
  • Verify specifications and designs through testing, test data processing, modeling and simulation and performance analysis
  • Support all phases of the system lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
  • Maintain design documentation and follow configuration management requirements
  • Create technical reports and present test and analysis results
  • Coordinate integrated testing activities working in a dynamic people-focused environment
  • Designing, build, procure, maintain, prepare, and/or use flight test infrastructure, support equipment, and missile weapon system hardware and software
  • Interface with internal and external customers

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree with 6 years of related experience.
  • US Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification.
  • CAM certified with 5+ years of managing EVMs
  • 5+ years of Test Experience (Test Plan, Test Procedures, Test Reporting
  • Experience managing groups of 10+ employees.
  • 2+ years of Flight Test Experience.
  • Experience managing projects and the associated costs, schedules, and technical performance.
  • Prior ICBM or missile/rocket flight test experience with a successful track record of program performance, interpersonal team building skills, and cross-functional management experience.
  • Possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills


These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and a minimum 8 years of related experience or Master's Degree in STEM with 6 years of related experience.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance granted within the last 6 years
  • Strong partnership/collaboration skills. Demonstrated ability to partner cross-IPT/cross-discipline within a team
  • Strong program technical leadership skills
  • Familiarity with processes and systems for test telemetry, system safety, and range safety
  • Strong program execution skills; Demonstrated ability to meet program technical, cost, and schedule milestones.
  • Ability to integrate, engage, and lead team to perform at top level of performance.
  • Ability to leverage experience/background to bring alternative ideas/solutions to the team


Primary Level Salary Range: $175,400.00 - $263,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
