The role suits a senior professional who thrives in a hands-on agency environment, enjoys direct client engagement, and wants to contribute to both client impact and firm growth.

We are looking for a senior professional to lead strategy and oversee execution for corporate, program, and product communications spanning late-stage development through commercialization. Work across high-visibility therapeutic areas, partnering closely with clients on media relations, milestone communications, and brand positioning.

Job Responsibilities

The SVP serves as a senior strategic leader for $5M+ book of business on large pharma client, responsible for shaping franchise- and product-level communications strategy, guiding senior clients through high-stakes decisions, and ensuring the delivery of integrated, high-quality work that advances client and firm objectives.
  • Act as the primary strategic counselor for complex portfolio, franchise, and product communications engagements, advising senior client stakeholders on positioning, priorities, and integrated communications decisions.
  • Set the strategic vision for communications programs spanning clinical development, regulatory milestones, data readouts, and commercialization-ensuring clarity, consistency, and business relevance across moments.
  • Seamlessly navigate between long-range strategy and real-time advisory support, ensuring execution aligns to strategic intent and meets the highest quality standards.
  • Lead the development of persuasive, high-level communications plans (annual, quarterly, and milestone-driven), translating business and scientific strategy into clear narratives and activation pathways.
  • Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts and across the firm, contributing to new business development, expanded scopes, and broader client partnerships.
  • Own senior client relationships, building trust through sound judgment, proactive guidance, and a deep understanding of client organizations, challenges, and decision dynamics.
  • Partner closely with internal and shared-service leaders (e.g., paid media, digital, creative, clinical trial excellence) to deliver integrated solutions and grow multidisciplinary accounts.
  • Provide executive oversight of account operations, including staffing models, workflows, and financial performance; accountable for budget management, resourcing, and profitable growth.
  • Ensure teams deliver thoughtful, timely, and strategic work-setting clear standards, providing course correction when needed, and elevating the overall quality of client service.
  • Directly mentor and develop senior and mid-level talent, fostering strategic thinking, ownership, and leadership capability while building a high-performance, learning-oriented culture.
  • Lead by example with a "roll-up-your-sleeves" mindset-stepping in when needed to solve problems, advance work, or support teams during critical moments.

Desired Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 12+ years life science/pharma PR experience, agency preferred
  • Experience with late-stage clinical programs as well as global and U.S. commercial launches
  • Knowledge of regulatory processes, advisory committees, data and regulatory milestones, congress strategy, KOL and patient communications activations
  • Prior experience working in oncology required
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and client-facing skills
  • Highly organized, proactive, with an entrepreneurial mindset and commitment to client confidentiality
  • Oversight of websites, graphics, and core communications assets
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
