Senior Underwriter - Facultative Automatic Facilities

US

For AXA XL Reinsurance North America business, the Property Facultative Automatic Senior Underwriter will, under direction of the Property Facultative Department Manager, and in accordance with established procedures: underwrite and maintain/service profitable new and renewal business exercising self-supported judgment based on comprehension of policy form terms and conditions and coverage intent; increase our market share, our visibility, and solidify our position as a leader in the marketplace by participating in underwriting and marketing activities; be dedicated to maximizing the efficiency of the group, and providing quality service to internal and external customers.

What you'll be doing

What will your essential responsibilities include?
  • Responsible for underwriting and production of automatic facility accounts achieving individual and division profitability and premium line with annual budgeted targets.
  • Underwrite terms and conditions and establish pricing for new and renewal automatic facility business by gathering, reviewing, and analyzing account information
  • Contribute to consistent satisfactory internal/external audit results by adhering to underwriting guidelines, regulatory and rating guidelines.
  • Manage internal AXA XL relationships and effectively communicate with underwriting, actuarial, legal, underwriting service department and claims staff to ensure proper handling of accounts
  • Maintain and service a book of business by analyzing endorsement requests, and special acceptances to provide customer service to customers and brokers.
  • Participate the strategic planning and implementation of business development activities including but not limited to: identification of key opportunities; completion and implementation of action plans from management, and travel to customer/broker visits as needed.

You will report to the Product Leader/Division Manager for Property Facultative Reinsurance - North America.

Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Must have substantial experience in the Reinsurance industry, with an emphasis on Programs, Facultative Facilities, or Commercial Property Treaty or Automatic Facility Reinsurance. Extensive experience with policy and contract wording, actuarial pricing models and natural catastrophe modeling.
  • Understand policy / contract wording, policy rating, and be proficient in the use of policy rating systems.
  • Must be detail oriented and accurate; demonstrate elevated organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Math aptitude
  • Outstanding PC skills
  • Property and Inland Marine Underwriting Background

The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD $107,600- $209,100.

Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual's skills, experience and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues' pay.
