The UI/UX Designer defines and delivers intuitive, visually compelling user experiences for an implantable medical device platform and its connected-care ecosystem. This role combines strong visual design skills with user-centered product design. They translate clinical workflows and user needs into elegant interfaces, rapid prototypes, and validated experiences across multiple concurrent products while preserving a consistent product-family experience.
The UI/UX Designer will be proficient with the entire UX process including discovery, research, ideation, prototyping, and validation.
General Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end UX for assigned products from discovery through delivery, ensuring user-centered, validated solutions.
- Conduct user research and testing with clinicians and patients; synthesize findings into clear requirements and improvements.
- Design and prototype interaction models, wireframes, and high-fidelity UIs to communicate intent and enable implementation.
- Maintain a scalable design system and production-ready specs to ensure portfolio-wide consistency and efficient handoffs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineering, human factors, regulatory, legal, security, and marketing to align on safety, usability, and go-to-market needs.
- Elevate UI/UX best practices and methodologies by defining, documenting, and sharing standardized design processes, templates, and governance to ensure consistent, repeatable delivery.
Specific Responsibilities- Lead discovery activities: run stakeholder interviews, contextual inquiry, and workflow mapping with clinicians and patients
- Synthesize research into requirements: create user personas, journey maps, and prioritized UX requirements.
- Define information architecture: establish navigation, content hierarchy, and data flows for device and companion applications.
- Create interaction models and wireframes: produce low- and mid-fidelity artifacts to validate flows and behaviors.
- Produce high-fidelity UI designs: deliver pixel-perfect screens, visual assets, and motion cues that reflect brand and clinical needs.
- Build interactive prototypes: create clickable prototypes for concept validation, stakeholder reviews, and engineering alignment.
- Plan and run UX and usability testing: design test plans, recruit participants, run sessions, synthesize results, and produce actionable reports.
- Deliver production-ready specs: provide annotated designs, component specs, and developer handoff artifacts (tokens, assets, logic rules/states, and guidelines).
- Maintain and evolve the design system: create reusable components, documentation, and versioning to ensure portfolio consistency.
- Define and scale UX operations: establish team best practices, templates, and workflows; support growth of UX maturity across processes, tools, and standards.
- Assigned responsibilities may focus more on UI or on UX, or may be a balance of both.
Minimum Qualifications- Strong verbal and written communication and proven cross-functional collaboration skills
- Highly motivated self-starter who proactively drives outcomes, negotiates trade-offs, and works independently when needed
- Excellent teamwork, partnering, and negotiation abilities to align stakeholders and move projects forward
- Deep knowledge of current UX methodologies, design processes, and usability principles
- Experience applying mobile and web interface standards such as Android Material Design and Apple Human Interface Guidelines
- Fluent with Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, Dovetail, or equivalent design, prototyping, and research tools
- Usability testing and research practice: planning, running sessions, synthesizing findings, and reporting actionable recommendations
- Design systems experience: creating, maintaining, and scaling component libraries and documented patterns for multi-product consistency
Education- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Industrial Design, Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related field.
- Preferred: Master's degree in HCI, Human Factors, Interaction Design, or a closely related discipline.
- Relevant certifications and coursework (e.g., UX research, human factors, accessibility, design systems) considered a plus.
Location & Travel Requirements- This position will be based at our Houston area site
- Moderate travel may be required (up to 25%)
Pay Transparency- A reasonable estimate of the annual base salary for this position is $160,000 - $180,000 plus discretionary annual bonus. Pay ranges may vary by location.
