The Senior Transportation Manager manages the development and execution of daily operations, strategic plans, client relationships, and meeting all service metrics to achieve operational and business objectives.The position leads a team of Supervisors and hourly associates to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic policies to drive profitable growth in order to deliver company goals.
  • Manage departmental budget and P&L, keeping expenses under control to deliver the operating plan.
  • Lead and develop a team of associates while maintaining accountability to company policies.
  • Must become a systems super user and drive efficiencies through systemic improvements.
  • Establish a Lean culture and drive impactful results.
  • Work diligently with various Saddle Creek warehousing, transportation, and support associates to deliver near flawless execution to ourclientbase.
  • Develop strong relationships withSaddle Creek partners, clients, contractors, and vendors in a manner that supports Saddle Creek92s core values.
  • Assist with administrative duties to ensure receivables and payables are properly allocated to keep clean financials.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution and retention of all necessary reports and records regarding transportation operations.
  • Directly supervises associates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Supply Chain, Logistics, Business) preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 8-10 years' experience working in transportation, logistics, or supply chain management including oversight of inbound and outbound operations
  • 5 years' experience working with dispatch and fleet operations

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

  • Proficient knowledge of DOT/ FMCSA regulations
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpretP&Ls,general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation budgets, logistics networks, 3PL partnerships, carrier sourcing, and fleet management.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
