The Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a Senior Track Inspector to join our Rail & Transit team in Toronto, Ontario.

The Senior Track Inspector will be responsible for overseeing the inspection and maintenance of railway tracks to ensure safety and compliance with regulatory standards.

This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in track inspection and a keen eye for detail.

Your Impact
  • Conduct thorough inspections of railway tracks, switches, and crossings to identify and report defects
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and Metrolinx, Arema, CN Rail and CPKC regulatory requirements
  • Oversee maintenance and repair activities to ensure timely resolution of track issues
  • Collaborate with maintenance crews to develop and implement effective maintenance strategies
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, defects, and maintenance activities
  • Provide training and guidance to junior inspectors and maintenance staff
  • Participate in emergency response activities related to track issues
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, regulations, and technological advancements

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in railway track inspection
  • Extensive knowledge of railway track standards, regulations, and maintenance practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in reporting
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required
  • Relevant certifications or qualifications in track inspection are preferred
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including experience making presentations to senior management, elected officials and the public
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; the ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience; competence in clear, concise and tactful communication with senior management, clients, peers and staff
  • Strategic, conceptual analytical thinking and decision making skills
  • Adaptability and flexibility including the ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change; and
  • Negotiating skills within a context of political sensitivity and conflicting interests.


Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $104 100 - $138 000
MB & ON: $95 000 - $130 800
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $94 100 - $124 900
