Overview

The SeniorTechnology Strategist leads global, cross-functional teams to develop and execute technology strategies for some of Microsoft's largest and most complex customers. This role combines deep industry expertise, knowledge of Microsoft's product and solution portfolio, and trusted executive relationships to identify customer needs, manage account risks, create demand, and accelerate business transformation.Serving as the voice of the customer and an internal advocate, the Technology Strategist aligns Microsoft, partner, and customer teams around long-term business outcomes. The role shapes account plans and technology roadmaps, identifies opportunities to increase adoption and consumption, and demonstrates how Microsoft technologies and services can address future business needs better than competing alternatives.

Responsibilities

Customer and Industry Insights
Synthesize business, customer, competitor, and industry insights, drawing on global best practices, case studies, and team expertise to support forecasting, account management, and subsidiary planning.
Bring alternative perspectives that help customers adapt their strategies, plans, business models, and solutions.
Orchestrate global teams to gather information, assess performance indicators, and identify risks within customer accounts.
Apply deep industry expertise to identify relevant Industry Sales Kits, partners, market trends, growth opportunities, and barriers.
Work with customers and partners to develop innovative solutions and integrate Microsoft technology into new areas of their business.

Differentiated Value Proposition
Act as a technology mentor and trusted advisor to customer leaders, including technical and business decision-makers at the CXO level.
Build relationships beyond the core customer team, align Microsoft capabilities to customer priorities, and challenge customer thinking with innovative ideas.
Lead business transformation through digital technologies by connecting customer strategy, industry context, and Microsoft capabilities to measurable outcomes.
Engage corporate, cross-industry, and partner resources to accelerate transformation and capture customer wins for broader reuse.
Articulate how Microsoft technologies and services can support long-term growth and meet future business needs better than competing alternatives.

Education and Thought Leadership
Create enablement plans for large, high-stakes customers using existing and emerging readiness resources.
Drive customer skilling initiatives with account executives and Enterprise Skills Initiative teams.
Motivate and align customer, partner, and Microsoft technical resources around the customer's transformation agenda.
Deliver regular industry and technology briefings to executives, technical teams, and business decision-makers to strengthen execution and competitive advantage.

Account Planning and Stakeholder Mapping
Orchestrate internal teams and the partner ecosystem-including global systems integrators, consulting partners, Microsoft Industry Solutions, the Specialist Team Unit, and the Customer Success Unit-to secure the right technical resources.
Own the technical portion of account plans for large, critical, or strategic accounts and capture required inputs in the MSX Dynamics 365 Account Plan.
Establish account-planning and review practices that align quota attainment, consumption goals, opportunity pipelines, and customer consumption gaps with quarterly and fiscal objectives.
Coordinate complex account teams across technologies, geographies, and functions; drive forecasting, business tracking, accountability, and execution.
Create stakeholder maps, orchestrate coverage plans, and establish execution frameworks across multiple customer business areas.
Partner with account executives to set and refine strategy, share account-planning outputs with customers, and continually realign plans to customer expectations.

Technology Sales, Demand Generation, and Orchestration
Guide customers into the era of AI and the Industrial Metaverse through targeted strategies aligned to their business priorities.
Define the foundational technology capabilities required to realize value, build a mid-term strategy, and develop an immediate pipeline of billed and consumption opportunities.
Lead Account Strategy Envisioning with customers, partners, and the extended account team to connect Industry Sales Kits and Horizontal Solution Plays to desired business outcomes.
Create and qualify early-stage opportunities with technical decision-makers, maintain pipeline velocity, resolve blockers, and advance opportunities through the Microsoft Customer Engagement Methodology lifecycle.
Develop customer-focused pitches and demand-generation plans across appropriate channels in partnership with account executives and technical teams.
Coach peers on opportunity initiation, mapping Microsoft priorities to customer opportunities, and applying standards and best practices.

Technology Strategy and Roadmapping
Analyze the overall customer environment and identify business and technology gaps that Microsoft solutions can address.
Serve as the strategic link between Microsoft and the customer, aligning the customer's long-term business strategy with the actions and resources required for execution.
Develop trusted, multi-horizon technology and business roadmaps-typically spanning three or more years-for prominent, complex, or strategic accounts.
Validate strategies and roadmaps with customer stakeholders and incorporate new capabilities, organizational changes, and program dependencies.
Translate customer objectives into an effective industry technology architecture using Industry Sales Kits and Solution Plays, including cloud services and consumption-intensive workloads.

Trusted Advisor and Customer Advocacy
Maintain broad knowledge of Microsoft's product portfolio, solutions, and strategy, and apply it to customer business and technology needs.
Coordinate with internal and external industry experts to deepen knowledge of the customer's industry and competitive landscape.
Represent the voice of the customer by sharing insights, feedback, and challenges with product, engineering, and other internal teams; establish feedback loops and drive action.
Escalate urgent customer issues to the appropriate Microsoft stakeholders and help coordinate solutions.
Provide technical guidance to internal teams and coach subsidiary resources on account strategy, customer context, and industry best practices.
Build executive-level security thought leadership using Microsoft Security and Zero Trust narratives; position security as a business enabler and orchestrate execution with security specialists.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business or related field AND 7+ years technical consulting, technical consultative selling, practice building, or related technical/sales/industry experience OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Healthcare industry experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in digital transformation or using technology to drive customer business outcomes.
  • 4+ years of experience in business consulting, consultative selling, or change management.
  • 5+ years of experience leading technical, support, or partner teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to orchestrate global teams, evaluate performance indicators, and identify risks in complex customer accounts.
  • Experience partnering with customers and partners to develop innovative solutions and integrate technology into business operations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft's product portfolio, solutions, and strategy, with the ability to represent the voice of the customer across the organization.
  • Experience assessing the needs of large, complex accounts, identifying solution gaps, and leading technology-enabled business transformation.
  • Ability to influence line-of-business leaders and executives and articulate how complex technologies and services address future business needs.
  • Experience developing stakeholder maps, coverage plans, execution frameworks, and account-planning practices aligned to quota and consumption objectives.
  • Expertise in creating enablement plans for large, high-stakes customers and broader Microsoft teams.


Strategic Account Technology IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.
