Senior Technology Construction Administration ManagerJob Summary:The Senior Technology Construction Administration Manager provides leadership for the construction administration of technology systems designed by our engineering firm. This senior-level position is responsible for ensuring that technology infrastructure is installed in accordance with the engineering design, contract documents, applicable codes, and industry best practices. This role serves as the firm's primary field representative, providing technical leadership throughout the construction process while protecting the integrity of the design and the interests of our clients.
This position requires an experienced construction professional who combines extensive field knowledge with exceptional leadership, project management, and communication skills. The successful candidate will confidently direct contractors, vendors, architects, engineers, commissioning teams, and owners while resolving technical challenges and driving projects to successful completion.
In addition to managing construction administration activities, the Senior Technology Construction Administration Manager mentors' junior staff, develops construction administration standards, and contributes to the continuous improvement of the firm's quality assurance and project delivery processes.
Key ResponsibilitiesClient Management- Lead construction administration efforts for multiple concurrent projects ranging from commercial and institutional facilities to healthcare, higher education, government, and mission-critical environments.
- Serve as the firm's senior field representative throughout construction.
- Ensure technology systems are installed in strict accordance with construction documents, engineering intent, project specifications, and industry standards.
- Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, product substitutions, value engineering proposals, and change orders for technical compliance.
- Provide design clarification and technical interpretation throughout construction.
- Conduct routine and milestone field observations to verify installation quality and document project progress.
- Identify installation deficiencies and develop corrective action plans with contractors.
- Lead project punch list development, deficiency resolution, and final acceptance activities.

Project Leadership- Manage construction administration activities across multiple projects simultaneously.
- Develop project observation schedules and construction administration work plans.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, owners, contractors, subcontractors, commissioning agents, and technology vendors.
- Lead technology coordination meetings and construction progress meetings.
- Review contractor schedules and monitor technology installation progress.
- Anticipate construction risks and proactively resolve issues before they impact project schedule or budget.
- Support project managers with scope management and client communications during construction.
- Participate in project closeout, commissioning, and owner turnover activities.
Quality Assurance & Technical Excellence - Ensure consistent application of the firm's construction administration procedures.
- Develop and maintain field observation standards and reporting templates.
- Review field reports prepared by junior staff for technical accuracy and completeness.
- Promote continuous improvement of construction administration practices.
- Verify compliance with applicable codes, standards, manufacturer installation requirements, and engineering specifications.
- Assist engineering staff in improving future designs through lessons learned during construction.
Leadership & Staff Development- Mentor and train Technology Project Managers, Construction Administrators, and junior engineering staff.
- Provide technical guidance on complex installation issues.
- Support staff development through field training and project coaching.
- Promote accountability, professionalism, and technical excellence across the construction administration team.
- Foster collaborative relationships with clients, architects, contractors, and vendors while maintaining the firm's role as an independent engineering consultant.
Qualifications:- Minimum 10 years of progressive field experience in the installation, supervision, commissioning, inspection, or construction administration of low-voltage technology systems.
- Demonstrated experience serving in a leadership role during construction administration for large commercial, healthcare, institutional, higher education, government, or mission-critical projects.
- Thorough understanding of construction processes, project delivery methods, and contract administration.
- Extensive experience reviewing:
- Construction drawings
- Specifications
- Shop drawings
- Product submittals
- Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Change Orders
- Testing and Commissioning Documentation
- Strong understanding of BICSI, TIA, NEC, NFPA, IBC, IFC, and applicable building and life safety codes.
- Ability to read, interpret, and enforce engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam Revu, and construction management platforms such as Procore.

The role includes extensive field observations, construction meetings, inspections, and coordination activities. Candidates must be comfortable working in active construction environments and accessing telecommunications spaces, equipment rooms, rooftops, and other building infrastructure as required.
