What you'll do...
Role summary:
The Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration, leads the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role oversees preventive maintenance programs, manages refrigerant handling, and coordinates field teams to optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime. The position requires effective collaboration with cross-functional teams to implement operational improvements and support business priorities. Additionally, the Senior Technician provides hands-on training, mentors associates, and participates in on-call rotations to address critical service needs promptly.

The General Facilities Maintenance team ensures Walmart's facilities operate efficiently and safely through preventive maintenance, equipment repair, and thorough inspections. Collaborating with internal and external partners, the team coordinates resources and budgets to deliver timely, high-quality service. What you'll do:
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and preventive maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and building pneumatics.
  • Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Manage refrigerant handling, reclaim ozone-depleting substances, and ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Coordinate and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and evaluating technician skill development.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including work orders, maintenance logs, and expense reports.
  • Support on-call rotations to address critical service needs promptly.
  • Manage parts inventory, vendor relationships, and service scheduling to meet business priorities.

What you'll bring:
  • Proven expertise in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and building pneumatics.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial environments.
  • Experience leading field teams, mentoring technicians, and managing escalated service challenges effectively.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant handling protocols, and compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes.
  • Ability to manage parts inventory, vendor relationships, and coordinate service calls to meet business priorities.
  • Skilled in documenting work orders, maintenance logs, and submitting accurate reports.

The hourly wage range for this position is $35.00 - $70.00*

*The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.

Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.








Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: 3 years' experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration.
Option 2: 6 years' experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
1 year's experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area or 2 years' Walmart store experience.
Valid state-issued driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
