Job Summary:

We are seeking a Sr. Technical Recruiter to serve as the dedicated recruiting partner for the Semtech Photonics Products (SPP) fab in Alhambra, CA. This person will be deeply embedded with site leadership, acting as the primary point of contact for all hiring activity at the facility and running regular progress meetings to keep stakeholders informed and aligned. The Alhambra site is a growing part of Semtech's business, and this role plays a direct part in shaping that growth.

The scope of hiring spans a wide range of roles across the facility, including production operators and process technicians, MOCVD engineers and scientists, process, test, and backend engineers, R&D, facilities and EHS, and site management. The ideal candidate brings recruiting experience in a compound semiconductor, photonics, or III-V advanced manufacturing environment and is equally comfortable sourcing for hands-on technical roles as they are for senior engineering and leadership positions.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the full recruiting lifecycle for all open headcount at the Alhambra, CA fab site, from requisition creation through offer acceptance.
  • Manage a broad requisition mix spanning production operators and process technicians, MOCVD engineers and scientists, process/test/photo/backend engineers, R&D scientists, facilities and EHS leadership, cost accounting, and site management.
  • Partner closely with site leadership, hiring managers, and HRBPs to understand role priorities, headcount sequencing, and hiring timelines tied to site buildout milestones.
  • Build and maintain active talent pipelines across all role families, with particular focus on the compound semiconductor, InP photonics, and MOCVD talent ecosystem.
  • Develop sourcing strategies tailored to both the greater Los Angeles/Southern California talent market and national/global searches for niche technical roles.
  • Create compensation package proposals and lead offer negotiations in partnership with HR and Total Rewards.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date candidate records in Workday and provide regular pipeline and hiring progress updates to site and TA leadership.
  • Track and report key hiring metrics (time-to-fill, offer acceptance rate, pipeline health, req aging) with a focus on campaign progress against site headcount targets.
  • Stay current on compound semiconductor and photonics industry trends, competitive hiring landscape, and talent movements to provide strategic sourcing insights.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of technical recruiting experience
  • Demonstrated expertise supporting semiconductor, photonics, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Experience managing a high-volume requisition load in a site buildout, facility launch, or ramp-up hiring context.
  • Strong sourcing capabilities across LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards, professional networks, and industry-specific channels.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; comfortable working independently in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.
  • Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and HRIS platforms.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience utilizing Workday as an ATS.
  • Experience recruiting across a broad range of role types within a fab or manufacturing site, including a mix of exempt and non-exempt roles, process and test engineers, R&D scientists, site management, process technicians, production operators, etc.
  • Familiarity with compound semiconductor technologies, III-V materials, or photonics manufacturing processes is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience supporting a facility launch, site buildout, or acquisition integration hiring campaign.
  • Knowledge of MOCVD, InP photonics, or compound semiconductor process engineering roles and the talent landscape for these specialties.
