Senior Technical Manual Lifecycle Management (TMLCM) Specialist to support the
Improved Turbine Engine Program (ITEP). This position is based in Huntsville, AL.
Job Responsibilities/Duties:- Develop, revise, validate, verify, and sustain military technical publications, including Operator Manuals (-10), Maintenance Manuals (-20, -23, and -30), Repair Parts and Special Tools Lists (RPSTLs) (-24P), and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs).
- Translate approved engineering source data, drawings, logistics information, maintenance requirements, and technical data packages into clear and technically accurate publications.
- Develop technical manual content supporting system operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, disassembly, repair, reassembly, and teardown procedures.
- Review and incorporate approved Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), redline markups, Modification Work Orders (MWOs), and other technical changes while maintaining configuration control and traceability.
- Develop and maintain structured technical content using XML/SGML and applicable Document Type Definitions (DTDs), schemas, and publishing standards.
- Support tabletop and hands-on technical manual Validation and Verification (VAL/VER) events with military maintainers, engineers, logisticians, and subject-matter experts.
- Perform technical and quality-control reviews to ensure publications comply with applicable military standards, Army regulations, technical publication requirements, and approved style guidance.
- Review warnings, cautions, notes, hazard information, illustrations, procedural steps, parts data, and distribution statements for accuracy and proper application.
- Coordinate technical publication discrepancies and comment resolution with engineering, logistics, maintenance, program, security, records, and release stakeholders.
- Maintain technical publication configuration management and master baseline control.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience:- MA/MS degree in Engineering, Technical Writing, Logistics, or a related technical discipline.
- 10 or more years of relevant technical publication, technical writing, engineering, logistics, or related experience.
- Experience developing, revising, or sustaining military technical manuals and electronic technical publications.
- Working knowledge of MIL-STD-40051 and military technical-writing and publication requirements.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, technical data packages, logistics data, and source manuscripts.
- Experience with technical publication configuration management, baseline control, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and Modification Work Orders (MWOs).
- Experience supporting technical manual Validation and Verification (VAL/VER) activities.
- Proficiency with technical authoring and publication tools, including Arbortext Editor and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Experience with structured XML authoring and XML/SGML tagging, DTDs, and schemas.
- Knowledge of technical publication graphics formats including Computer Graphics Metafile (CGM) and Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG).
- Knowledge of Maintenance Allocation Charts (MACs), Repair Parts and Special Tools Lists (RPSTLs), Logistics Product Data (LPD), and electronic technical publication viewing platforms such as IADS.
- Strong technical writing, editing, quality-control, communication, and document-management skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD security clearance.
- Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time. US travel only.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience supporting Army Aviation technical publications and turbine engine systems.
- Previous experience supporting ITEP/T901, T700, and/or T55 engine technical publications.
- Experience supporting technical publications for fielded systems and warfighter maintenance operations.
- Advanced experience with XML/SGML data conversion and structured technical publication environments.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex engineering, maintenance, and logistics data into clear and technically accurate maintenance procedures.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with engineers, logisticians, maintainers, program personnel, and other stakeholders.
