TITLE: Senior Tax ManagerWHAT YOU'LL DOThe Senior Tax Manager leads critical aspects of Duck Creek Technologies' global tax function, including income tax compliance, tax provision reporting, international tax matters, indirect tax operations, tax planning, audits, and process improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant tax reporting across multiple jurisdictions while partnering closely with Finance, Accounting, Legal, Treasury, and external advisors.
Operating as a senior-level individual contributor, the Senior Tax Manager provides technical tax leadership, manages complex domestic and international tax matters, supports strategic business initiatives, and translates evolving tax requirements into practical business guidance. The role requires strong expertise in ASC 740, U.S. and international tax compliance, analytical problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration within a dynamic global software company environment.
- Manage federal, state, local, and international income tax compliance activities, including coordination with external tax advisors and review of tax returns, extensions, estimated payments, and supporting workpapers.
- Lead the quarterly and annual income tax provision process under ASC 740, including current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate analysis, uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, and financial statement disclosures.
- Support international tax provision and compliance requirements, including foreign tax filings, tax packages, statutory reporting support, and coordination with local country advisors.
- Oversee tax-related journal entries, account reconciliations, deferred tax schedules, and tax balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Manage indirect tax activities, including sales and use tax compliance, registrations, exemption certificate administration, tax notices, and coordination with third-party service providers.
- Support tax planning initiatives involving legal entity structures, transfer pricing, tax credits and incentives, cash tax forecasting, and assessment of tax law changes.
- Lead tax audits, examinations, and inquiries by gathering documentation, preparing responses, and coordinating with external advisors and taxing authorities.
- Monitor and evaluate domestic and international tax legislation, regulatory developments, and accounting pronouncements, assessing their impact on the organization.
- Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Treasury, HR, and business leaders to provide tax guidance on transactions, contracts, intercompany arrangements, acquisitions, and operational activities.
- Develop and maintain technical tax documentation, tax memoranda, process narratives, supporting schedules, and internal control documentation.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve tax processes, automation, controls, data management, and reporting efficiency across the tax function.
- Support strategic initiatives and special projects, including mergers and acquisitions, international expansion, tax technology implementations, entity rationalization, and other corporate transactions.
WHAT YOU'VE DONE:Required:
Education:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master's degree in Taxation, Juris Doctor (JD), LL.M. in Taxation, or other advanced tax-related credential preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive tax experience within public accounting, corporate tax, or a combination of both.
- Experience managing U.S. federal, state, and local income tax compliance processes.
- Experience preparing or reviewing ASC 740 income tax provisions and related financial reporting requirements.
- Experience coordinating with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
- Experience supporting multinational organizations and international tax operations.
- Experience with transfer pricing, foreign tax reporting, indirect tax compliance, and global tax planning initiatives.
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, legal entity restructuring, or international expansion activities.
- Familiarity with Workday, Avalara, tax provision software, ERP systems, and tax technology solutions.
- Experience improving tax processes, controls, automation, and documentation frameworks.

Actual compensation for this role is determined based on a variety of factors, including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location, where permitted by law.
For reference, the expected salary range for this position is generally positioned as follows based on candidate location:
- 137,300 - 196,100: Candidates living in the Boston, New York City-Newark, Los Angeles, San Francisco/Bay Area, Seattle, or Washington, DC metropolitan areas
- 130,800 - 186,800: Candidates living in Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Minneapolis, or Philadelphia metropolitan areas, or in Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Rhode Island, or Vermont
- 124,300 - 177,600: Candidates living in Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Oregon, or Wisconsin
- 110,000 - 172,000: For all other U.S. locations
This position is also eligible for annual bonus compensation, subject to plan terms and individual eligibility.
Final compensation will be determined based on the factors outlined above and in accordance with applicable law.
