Full Job Description
Join FYihealth group as a Senior Tax Associate and help deliver accurate, practical tax outcomes across our Canadian and U.S. entities. You will balance hands-on compliance and reporting with research and advisory work, partnering with Financial reporting, Treasury, M&A, Legal, external advisors and business leaders. This role is well suited to a CPA who enjoys technical depth, communication of ideas, and turning complex tax issues into timely action.

This role is based at our Home Office, located in Calgary, Alberta.

What You'll Do

Tax Compliance

  • Prepare and review annual corporate tax returns across multiple entities and liaise with external tax advisors and auditors as needed
  • Preparing Canadian and US tax provision and tax note disclosures
  • Transfer pricing - managing policies, documentation and external advisor coordination


Tax Planning, Advisory and Tax Risk Management

  • Monitoring and reporting on changes in tax legislation
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities for tax planning
  • Present tax matters to senior executives and board members
  • Researching tax issues and creation of tax memorandum related to various business initiatives as needed


Process Improvement and Cross-team collaboration

  • Identifying and implementing process improvements, controls, and best practices to enhance tax team operations while ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the tax team's work
  • Supporting onboarding of new associates as a subject matter expert on the tax aspects of revenue and compensation models
  • Working closely with the Legal and M&A team to advise on tax considerations and tax planning on acquisitions
  • Collaborate with other business operation leaders to resolve tax issues as they arise
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and organizational goals


What You Bring

  • A bachelor's degree in business (accounting or finance)
  • A CPA designation with a minimum of 1 year post designation experience
  • 3+ years experience with Canadian corporate tax
  • Exposure to tax planning associated with the purchase and sale of private companies
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Knowledge and experience in US tax and cross border tax issues
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Experience preparing and filing corporate tax returns
  • Experience with large private company tax services
  • Experience with multinational enterprises
  • Exposure to international tax and transfer pricing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound interpersonal judgment and the ability to explain complex tax matters effectively
  • Strong planning, analytical, decision-making and organizational abilities
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented approach, with the initiative to develop new ideas and recommend practical improvements
  • A strong commitment to integrity, in compliance with the company's code of ethics
