Aprio is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to join their team in Portland!

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys complex business returns, taking ownership of engagements, and expanding their technical skills while working alongside experienced industry leaders.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:
  • Take ownership engagements from planning through completion
  • Build meaningful client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor

  • Gain exposure to engagement review, staff development, and increasing leadership responsibilities as you progress toward Manager and beyond

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Tax Associate, your typical day may include:
  • Preparing and reviewing federal and state tax returns, with a primary focus on partnerships and other flow-through entities
  • Reviewing workpapers, trial balances, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Taking ownership of assigned client engagements and helping drive projects through timely completion
  • Researching tax issues and identifying opportunities to support client objectives and planning strategies
  • Collaborating directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and provide responsive service
  • Responding to review comments, resolving technical issues, and incorporating feedback efficiently
  • Reviewing work prepared by junior staff and providing coaching, guidance, and constructive feedback
  • Collaborating with offshore preparation teams and reviewing simpler returns to ensure quality and consistency
  • Leveraging tax technology, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and service delivery
  • Building strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service
  • Working closely with Managers, Directors, and Partners to deliver high-quality tax solutions and support client growth initiatives


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 2-5 years of public accounting tax experience
  • Experience preparing and reviewing tax returns for partnerships, S corporations and corporations
  • Strong understanding of flow-through entities and closely held businesses
  • Experience reviewing workpapers and responding to review notes
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements successfully
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and CPA firm operations
  • Experience working directly with clients and building trusted relationships
  • Comfort working with tax technology, automation tools, and evolving AI-enabled solutions
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both onshore and offshore teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • CPA or EA designation (preferred)
