Position Overview

We are looking to add a Senior Tax Analyst to our Calgary head office team. Reporting to the Director - Accounting & Tax, you will play a key role in supporting the Company's Canadian, U.S., and international tax reporting, compliance, planning, and audit activities. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting while contributing to process improvements and strategic tax initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare quarterly tax provisions.
  • Support quarterly and annual tax reporting and disclosures.
  • Coordinate the preparation of Canadian, U.S., and international tax compliance filings with external advisors and/or prepare filings in-house.
  • Reconcile notices of assessment, investigate variances, and resolve issues with tax authorities.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for tax audits and respond to audit queries.
  • Monitor changes in Canadian, U.S., and international tax legislation and assess their impact on the business.
  • Conduct tax research and provide technical guidance on complex Canadian, U.S., and international tax matters.
  • Identify and evaluate tax planning opportunities to optimize the Company's effective tax rate.
  • Maintain accurate, organized tax working papers and supporting documentation.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of tax processes, controls, and technology.
  • Support transfer pricing compliance, including the preparation of documentation and reports.
  • Assist with special projects, including acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Other duties and project work as assigned.


Experience, Qualifications & Education
  • Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant designation is required.
  • Completion of, or active enrollment in, the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program is preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible post-designation corporate tax experience, preferably in the upstream oil and gas industry and/or a public accounting firm.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian corporate tax and tax compliance requirements.
  • Experience with U.S. corporate tax, transfer pricing, and/or international tax concepts (including OECD Pillar Two) is considered an asset.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing quarterly tax provisions and annual tax reporting.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external advisors.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
