Senior Tax Analyst role may be the right fit for you. Reporting to the Manager Tax, this position plays a key role in supporting Canadian corporate tax compliance, quarterly and annual tax provisions, audit support, tax research, and related reporting activities.
The successful candidate will bring strong technical tax knowledge, sound analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively with Finance and cross-functional stakeholders while contributing to accurate, well-documented, and audit-ready tax processes.
What You'll Do- Contribute to the preparation of corporate income tax returns, including schedules, calculations, and supporting documentation.
- Support and prepare monthly indirect tax filings (e.g GST).
- Assist with quarterly and annual tax provisions, including data collection, reconciliations, and working papers.
- Extract, analyze and organize financial data from ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft D365) to support tax filings and analysis.
- Perform detailed reconciliations and calculations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of audit ready tax data.
- Maintain and enhance Excel-based tax models and trackers, with a focus on accuracy and documentation to help track and maintain tax attributes (e.g., ACB, PUC, surplus balances).
- Assist in preparing support documentation for audits and tax authority requests.
- Compile working papers, memos, and files in accordance with internal standards and legislative requirements.
- Support research on tax legislation and technical issues, summarizing findings for the team.
- Collaborate with finance and others, cross functionally to gather input and improve processes.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring to the Role- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- CPA designation or CPA Candidate preferred.
- 4-7 years of corporate tax experience, ideally including public practice experience at a Big Four accounting firm.
- Must have strong working knowledge of Canadian corporate income tax compliance, tax provisions, and related reporting requirements.
- Experience in indirect tax, US tax and/or Canadian energy industry tax would be considered an asset.
- Strong computer and technical skills including Microsoft Office Applications, TaxPrep, and accounting systems, including Microsoft Dynamics AX and D365; Advanced Microsoft Excel and analytics skills preferred.
- Proven ability to work effectively with key business stakeholders.
- Clear written and verbal communication and a collaborative mindset.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines during compliance and reporting cycles.
Working Conditions- The majority of the work is performed in an office environment.
