Are you seeking an opportunity to leverage your expertise in employment tax to drive operational excellence and ensure regulatory compliance? Join Spectrum as a Senior Tax Accountant, Employment Tax, where you will manage day-to-day payroll tax activities, analyze multi-state requirements and provide technical support for regulatory reporting. Your meticulous attention to detail will directly contribute to the integrity of Spectrum's payroll tax operations.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Prepare, reconcile and remit federal, state and local employment tax returns accurately and on schedule
  • Ensure payroll reporting and payments adhere to Spectrum policies and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct studies and recommend improvements for compliance and employment tax operations
  • Assist with resolving tax agency matters and collaborate with Payroll Processing and Technology teams on system releases and patches
  • Support verification of employment tax withholdings and reconciliation of employee tax balances
  • Coordinate information for payroll tax audits and prepare reports related to tax credits and incentives

Required Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Management or related field, or equivalent combination of education

Experience
  • 5+ years employment tax work experience

Skills
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state and local taxable compensation and unemployment reporting
  • Knowledge of employment tax journal entries affecting balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Ability to communicate professionally with employees, customers and suppliers in person, by phone and in writing
  • Proficiency with personal computer and software applications such as word processing and spreadsheets
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Superior organizational, critical thinking and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience
  • Experience with MasterTax, Agency Notice Tracking System and PeopleSoft HRMS version 9.1 or higher
  • Experience with Excel, Pivot Tables and Query report writing
  • Experience in jurisdictional tax filing for large multi-state corporations
