The Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) organization is currently hiring a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in Goleta, CA. This position will serve as both an Environmental Test Engineer and Lab Lead; you will work within a cross-functional team to support testing activities and develop solutions that meet program commitments and compliance requirements. The role includes contributing to process optimization, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring adherence to established company standards. You will coordinate with engineering and test personnel to maintain efficient workflows and consistent execution of test operations.
This is an On-site role located in Goleta, CA.What You Will Do- Plan and conduct hardware tests, including vibration, mechanical shock, thermal, altitude, humidity, and structural testing, along with dynamic and thermal data analysis.
- Coordinate test fixture design and prepare technical documentation, such as test plans, schedules, reports, and archival technical records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, structural analysis, manufacturing, and commercial customers, to meet technical, financial, and scheduling goals.
- Provide lab oversight, ensuring compliance with Lab Operating Procedures (LOP), Foreign Object Elimination (FOE), Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) policies, and Access Management, as well as managing lab property, tools, and metrology.
- Safeguard proprietary materials and hardware in compliance with ITAR regulations, while supporting AS 9100/ISO 9001, DCMA, and Environment, Health, and Safety audits.
- Develop and implement corrective actions, long-range objectives, and communication plans, while consulting with functional and program management.
- Support audit preparation and oversee engineering lab evaluations, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including senior management, and demonstrate innovative problem-solving skills with flexibility to support variable shifts as needed.
Qualifications You Must Have- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience in hardware or environmental testing, including dynamic shock/vibration, climatic, and/or structural assessments.
- Prior experience developing Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) vibration and thermal profiles.
- Experienced in one or more of the following areas: signal processing, data acquisition, field test instrumentation, or structural testing.
- Experienced with engineering lab environments, including safety protocols and practices and 6S (housekeeping) principals, compliance requirements, and/or property management.
Qualifications We Prefer- Proficient with Vibration Research vibration control systems/software, and Shock Test execution.
- Strong knowledge of thermal and vibration testing standards, including ESS, HALT, HASS, and military standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-202, MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-167, MIL-STD-901).
- Skilled in structural and dynamic testing, including planning, execution, data analysis, troubleshooting, and correlation, with experience using Matlab.
- Experienced in project management, managing multiple concurrent projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and external customers.
- Familiar with continuous improvement principles (LEAN, CORE, ACE, Six-Sigma), AS 9100/ISO 9001 audits, Asset Management Systems (ARAMIS), and ESD controls.

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
