Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, FAQ/KB articles, and centralized management procedures for endpoint deployment and support.
  • Manage and support the centralized administration of enterprise web browsers (Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge) and assess Windows configuration standards using Group Policy.
  • Lead the certification process for endpoint hardware by creating and publishing a catalog aligned with customer needs and ensuring core OS components are updated.
  • Utilize SCCM dynamic collections, SQL, and WQL to generate reports and support data analytics for endpoint performance monitoring.
  • Configure and support remote support solutions and contribute to business intelligence dashboards with tools like Splunk.
  • Participate in departmental initiatives, share best practices, and adhere to HCA ITG standards, policies, and confidentiality requirements.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Enterprise Endpoint Services Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring a high-performing and stable end-user computing platform for the 300,000+ workstations at HCA. This requires the enabling of the entire Windows Endpoint OS Lifecycle, certified hardware, operating system standards, software update compliance, automated endpoint deployment support and best practices for endpoint configuration.

This person must be a positive, self-starter; possessing strong communication skills effectively focused on improving our customers' experience. They must possess an advanced ability to troubleshoot and dissect complex problems with strong communication skills that connect with all customer levels while collaboratively working with many other IT&S Communities across the HCA Enterprise. This person is called on to lead projects and operational initiatives for the department, especially Windows OS Lifecycle activities.

Responsibilities: Essential responsibilities of the job. Assign a percentage of time spent on each responsibility.

% of Time Description of Responsibility

25% - Collaborate with key stakeholders (Business and IT&G Leaders, vendors, and other product owners) by leading discussions and actions to drive lifecycle compliance, problem resolution, project milestone achievement, and produce business enhancing endpoint configuration designs.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation that supports Endpoint OS Lifecycle, deployment, and management capabilities
  • Create, Maintain and Support the centralized management of enterprise web browsers (e.g., Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge)
  • Discover, Test and Coordinate the implementation of windows configuration standards via Windows Group Policy settings.
  • Develop and review FAQ/KB articles to provide comprehensive content covering Endpoint OS management and problem resolution for required support tiers.
  • Utilize custom test environments to perform proof of concept implementations before deploying into production.


25% - Partner with key business stakeholders to ensure timely and effective certification of endpoint hardware that enhance the customer's endpoint experience.

  • Collaboratively develop and publish a certified endpoint hardware catalog that aligns with customer personas.
  • Ensure core OS components: Drivers, BIOS, patches, and core applications are updated to ensure hardware stability, functionality, and performance.
  • Maintain current OSD images and create new OSD Task Sequences utilizing Microsoft scripting technologies such as PowerShell, VBScript, WMI, and XML for captured images.
  • Document enterprise configuration management for endpoints and preventative maintenance as required.


25% - Utilize SCCM dynamic collections, advertisements, queries, and reports to gather necessary endpoint reporting data

  • Generate query-based collections and SCCM reports using SQL and WQL.
  • Contribute to Endpoint Services Dashboard content via Splunk or other data analytics engine to provide business intelligence on the endpoint environment.
  • Maintain, Configure and Support the Beyond Trust remote support solution for the enterprise.


10% - Coordinates sharing of best practices and policies and procedures

  • Participates in activities which improve departmental and organizational performance

5% - Adheres to and supports HCA ITG standards, policies, and procedures

  • Maintains and protects confidentiality with regard to all aspects of patient care

  • Advanced, current knowledge of workstation, laptop, and tablet hardware
  • Advanced knowledge of Systems Center Configuration Manager or comparable systems management system
  • Advanced working knowledge Windows Group Policy and Windows Registry for configuration of endpoint standards.
  • Microsoft SCCM Intune Certification and/or Knowledge Level preferred.
  • Proficient scripting language (Powershell preferred) and experience automating endpoint tasks


Physical Demands / Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged sitting. Local travel in the Metro Nashville area; very limited overnight
