Who YOU are and what YOU can become:

We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Linux OS) to lead modernization, security, and scalability initiatives across our enterprise environments. Based onsite in Baltimore, MD, this role manages multi-site Linux server infrastructure and plays a pivotal part in hybrid cloud architecture, advanced automation, and security/compliance aligned with aerospace industry standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who drives resilience, operational efficiency, and future-proofing through code-driven solutions and next-generation technologies.

What YOU will do:

Strategic Infrastructure & Hybrid Cloud Architecture
  • Hybrid Cloud Orchestration: Design, implement, and support complex hybrid environments across Azure, on-prem, and VMware; engineer integration solutions for seamless data flow and operational continuity.
  • Cloud Migration Leadership: Provide technical leadership to unblock and accelerate cloud migrations, ensuring alignment with long-term business roadmaps.
  • Resource & Storage Management: Optimize storage and resource utilization across diverse Linux distributions to maintain performance and cost efficiency.
  • Containerization & Modernization: Engineer and support platforms using Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker/Podman to accelerate deployment of mission-critical applications.


Advanced Automation & Operational Excellence
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Serve as SME to diagnose complex Linux failures; drive swift remediation to minimize downtime in production and migration environments.
  • Enterprise Server Management: Manage multi-site Linux ecosystems (e.g., RHEL/AlmaLinux, Ubuntu, SUSE) including stability, patching, and lifecycle management.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Use Ansible-integrating Python and Bash-to standardize server builds/configurations across multiple Linux flavors for rapid, consistent, audit-ready deployments.
  • Observability & Reliability: Implement monitoring/alerting (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Splunk); participate in on-call rotations and planned maintenance windows to uphold SLAs.


Security, Compliance, and Governance (Aerospace Focus)
  • System Hardening & Benchmarks: Harden Linux systems to meet/exceed CIS Benchmarks; reduce attack surface and satisfy strict regulatory requirements.
  • Policy & Certification Documentation: Develop and maintain Crypto Standards Procedures supporting ISO 27001 compliance; contribute to policy, standards, and audit artifacts.
  • Access Control & Identity: Manage PKI infrastructure, enforce least-privilege access standards, and implement robust account creation and restrictions.
  • Frameworks & Controls (Preferred): Experience with NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, and DoD STIGs in regulated environments.


What YOU must bring to Succeed

Must have at least a bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a relevant discipline
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience as a Infrastructure Engineer or similar role managing multi-site environments.
  • Expertise with RHEL/AlmaLinux, Ubuntu, and/or SUSE; strong skills in VMware vSphere, Azure, and hybrid architectures.
  • Proficiency in Ansible, Bash, and Python for automation; strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LDAP/AD integration, and networking fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift and container runtime tooling (Docker/Podman).
  • Proven track record in system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and audit readiness (CIS/ISO).
  • Strong RCA and troubleshooting skills; ability to lead complex incident resolution across cross-functional teams.
  • This position involves access to export-controlled technology which requires U.S. Person status or government authorization. Desired Characteristics
  • Certifications: RHCE/RHCSA, CKA/CKAD, Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or Azure Architect (AZ-305), CompTIA Security+.
  • Experience with Terraform, Git/GitLab CI, secret management (e.g., HashiCorp Vault), and SIEM solutions (Splunk/ELK).
  • Familiarity with aerospace/regulated environments.

Estimate salary range for this role: $145,000 to $180,000 per year. ST Engineering considers several factors with extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, education/training/certification, job level, and work location. Base salary is only one component of our competitive Total Rewards package.
