Full Job Description
The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding a Senior Surveyor to our Transportation team based in Edmonton, AB.

Your Role:
  • Accurate, cost effective, and timely completion of construction layout and data collection surveys in accordance with company and client quality standards.
  • Directing and supervising survey assistants, including provision of technical guidance, safety leadership, and mentorship.
  • Effective communication with our company project manager, contractors, and clients.
  • Processing and reviewing field survey data for completeness and accuracy, and effectively organizing large survey data sets on a given project.
  • Understanding roadway construction drawings and extracting digital design information for construction layout.
  • Understanding methods of measurement and payment for construction bid items, preparation of digital surface models, and quantity calculations.
  • Knowledge of standard construction specifications (Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors)
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.


Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Geomatics/Surveying, or several years of equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience on roadway construction projects in Canada, although applicants with directly relevant experience less than 10 years will be considered.
  • Availability to travel for work on project sites throughout Western Canada.
  • Experience utilizing GPS, scanning, bathymetric and total station survey equipment; familiarity with Trimble Survey Controllers would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with survey software; familiarity with Trimble Business Center and/or Civil 3D software would be considered an asset.
  • Preference will be given to those holding a current Advanced UAV license.
  • Experience with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors survey requirements an asset.
  • Must be well organized and have the ability to manage and prioritize several tasks at one time to ensure a commitment to project delivery and technical excellence.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work well independently, as well as in a team environment is necessary.
  • Must possess a valid driver license, with a favourable driver's abstract.
