Full Job Description
Pennoni is hiring for a Senior Survey CAD Technician to join our Surveying team and contribute to processing / production efforts on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Princeton, NJ.

We are seeking a candidate has been serious about building their Land Surveying career and is looking to take their next step; the ideal candidate is already positioned to obtain their Surveying License and will utilize this Survey CAD Tech opportunity to grow into leadership roles within this department in the future!

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Prepare mapping projects to achieve company goals (including profitability, safety, quality, and operational excellence).
  • Perform survey computations and quality checks (QA/QC) on work performed prior to review by the signing Professional / Surveyor.
  • Interpret design drawings and other relevant data for field / office usage for what's needed to complete the task per contractual agreement.
  • Conduct / prepare Boundary, Alta, Existing conditions /topographic surveys, Minor and Prelim/final Major Subdivision plans (includes review of zoning data).
  • Prepare construction stakeout, plot plans, final and as-built surveys.
  • Coordinate with field crews and other Technicians that may be assisting on assigned project(s).
  • Perform additional research to complete tasks (when needed).
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Assist with cost estimates for proposals.
  • This person will also need to work in the field (on an as-needed basis).
  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.


Basic Requirements:
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent).
  • 4+ years of professional experience working in Field / Land Surveying, Civil Design, and/or Civil Drafting.


This person will be expected to work in the field, as-needed, so they will be required to possess a Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Formal training in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field of study; Associate's degree (or higher) is a plus!
  • Relevant credentials (e.g.: NSPS CST, LSIT, or PLS); FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot's License is a plus!
  • Proven expertise working in Land Surveying, preferably with a mix of field and office-based tasks; expertise with modern surveying methods & best practices is preferred.
  • Proficiency with engineering / CADD tools; experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation is strongly preferred!
  • Experience with survey-specific & point cloud processing software tools; experience with Trimble Business Center [TBC], Leica Infinity, Cyclone Core / 3DR / Register 360, CloudWorx, and/or Carlson Survey is a plus!
  • Experience with Laser Scanning processing & registration is a plus!
  • Proficiency with related technologies / equipment (e.g.: Robotic Total Stations, Leica RTC and P50 Laser Scanners, Leica Geosystems 3DLS Equipment / software, GPS, etc.).
  • Proven knowledge of the State Plane Coordinate System and Grid to Ground conversions.
  • Proven ability to utilize technical mathematics (especially with Geometry and Trigonometry); proven competence with geospatial data analysis and other survey-related calculations is a plus!
  • Proficiency on all standard Microsoft Office software applications (especially Excel).
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to work in a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).


Please note that we are willing to consider a higher-level position for the right candidate, depending on their qualifications / level of experience.

TARGET SALARY RANGE: $40 - $55 (per hour)
