Full Job Description

  • This position requires full-time onsite work (5 days per week) in Henrietta and is not eligible for relocation assistance

Job Summary:

Lead a team of engineers and engineering technicians in support of packaging operations, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance. Coordinate engineering projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and technical problem-solving efforts to improve quality, cost, output, equipment performance, and customer service. Partner closely with operations and cross-functional teams to ensure effective execution of departmental and site objectives while developing leadership and business acumen for future advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily activities of engineers and engineering technicians, providing technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Lead assigned Operations Project Engineering initiatives including project planning, execution, resource coordination, and completion.
  • Drive Production Engineering improvement projects focused on quality, efficiency, reliability, and waste reduction.
  • Support departmental strategic objectives by translating site priorities into actionable engineering initiatives.
  • Develop and mentor engineers and technicians through training, coaching, and succession planning activities.
  • Facilitate collaboration between engineering, operations, maintenance, quality, and other functional groups.
  • Ensure engineering documentation, SOPs, work instructions, and technical records are accurate and maintained.
  • Maintain documentation related to process experiments, equipment changes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Recommend and implement equipment modifications and process improvements to enhance operational performance and support customer demand.
  • Develop technical justifications and supporting documentation for capital equipment projects.
  • Coordinate vendor and contractor activities to ensure quality work, compliance with safety expectations, and achievement of project objectives.
  • Support Continuous Improvement initiatives and Lean Manufacturing activities throughout the facility.
  • Monitor equipment downtime, performance metrics, and operational trends to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collect, analyze, and present engineering data to support decision-making and quantify improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure engineering practices comply with internal quality systems, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Participate in project reviews and postmortems to identify lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with global packaging engineering teams to share technical knowledge and best practices.
  • Evaluate operational impacts of customer requests, process changes, and engineering solutions.
  • Support department budget planning through project cost estimates, resource planning, and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Act as department representative on cross-functional teams and site initiatives as assigned.
  • Provide leadership coverage and decision-making support in the absence of the Engineering Manager.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience:
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering, project management, process excellence, and continuous improvement; packaging or distribution experience preferred.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional projects and driving operational improvements.
  • Previous experience supervising, coaching, or developing technical personnel preferred.
  • People leadership experience is a plus.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field is required. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Six sigma and lean certifications are a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of packaging assembly equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and applications within the Packaging area.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and project management principles.
  • Strong ability to lead, coach, mentor, and develop engineers, technicians, and cross-functional personnel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and facilitation capabilities.
  • Strong analytical, technical judgment, and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision making.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and coordinate resources to deliver results on schedule and within budget.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to build effective relationships across multiple functions and organizational levels.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment while maintaining a professional and positive presence.
  • Understanding of FDA regulations, quality systems, and requirements applicable to medical device manufacturing and assembly.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance, operational excellence, and customer-focused decision making.

Work Environment:
  • Normal warehouse and office environment with some exposure to dust, heat and cold. Must be willing to travel as needed (1-2 times annually).

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $89,872 and $128,389 per year and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
