The Subcontract Manager reports to the Director of Contracts and is responsible for leading, managing, and overseeing the full lifecycle of contracts and agreements supporting TerraPower's corporate activities and client projects, including government contracts and subcontracts. This role provides program-level ownership of contract negotiation, planning, administration, and oversight to ensure alignment with corporate objectives, risk tolerance, regulatory requirements, and project performance goals.
The Subcontract Manager implements and continuously improves processes for initiating, developing, issuing, monitoring, and closing out external contracts. This position plays a key role in mitigating risks and liabilities through effective customer negotiations, contract administration, subcontract sourcing guidance, pricing support, and coordination of materials, equipment, and services procurement. The Contract Manager also leads cross-functional review processes and supports the development of corporate and supplier strategy.
Responsibilities• Lead contract management activities for assigned programs, clients, or TerraPower projects, including government contracts, subcontracts, grants, government funding opportunities, and commercial agreements.
• Serve as TerraPower's primary interface with external government and commercial customer contracting organizations for assigned programs, ensuring consistent communication and alignment throughout contract development and execution.
• Oversee and support Business Development activities through review, negotiation strategy, and leadership of agreement execution.
• Provide ongoing oversight of executed contracts with emphasis on compliance, change control, risk management, quality, cost, schedule, and performance.
• Support department leadership by contributing to process improvements, tool development, staff training, and budget planning and control.
• Coordinate and lead cross-functional engagement with Legal, Finance, Procurement, and other internal stakeholders to support contract strategy, development, and administration.
• Provide subcontract management oversight and guidance as required, partnering with Procurement to implement subcontracting strategies.
• Ensure contract files, documentation, and approvals are accurate, complete, and audit-ready.
Key Qualifications and Skills• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling a minimum of fifteen-twenty years in technically oriented contracting.
• Experience in contracting roles with international exposure (preferred).
• Direct experience with engineering-related contracting in the nuclear industry (preferred).
• Experience working with DOE National Laboratories and understanding of their operational frameworks (preferred).
• Technical or subject-matter background (education or experience-based) is advantageous.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently while effectively leading cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated integrity, trustworthiness, openness in communication, and commitment to supporting a collaborative team environment.

Salary Range Level: $190,692 - $286,037
* We typically place offers in the lower to middle portion of the range to maintain internal equity and allow room for growth. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual's qualifications experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
