Full Job Description
The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding Senior Structural Engineer to our Structural Engineering team. This opportunity is remote and/or hybrid-friendly that can be performed from a wide range of locations across the US.

Your Role:
Tetra Tech's High Performance Building division is currently seeking a full-time Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be experienced in working on challenging projects of various construction types in a wide range of industry sectors. The successful candidate will work with other Tetra Tech team members in the delivery of company project initiatives related to structural engineering. The ideal candidate enjoys working as a team player in a flexible environment and seeing work followed through during onsite visits. Your contributions will include.

Essential job functions:
• Manage the structural design and analysis of building and facility projects.
• Lead structural engineering design for new construction, renovations, additions, and modifications to existing facilities.
• Develop structural systems for steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and foundation systems.
• Perform and review structural analysis and design calculations, including gravity, wind, and seismic design.
• Perform seismic design of buildings and structural systems in accordance with ASCE 7 and applicable building codes.
• Deliver quality projects on schedule and within established budgets.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid level engineers.
• Prepare and review structural calculations, construction drawings, specifications, design narratives, and technical reports.
• Perform structural condition assessments and prepare investigation and assessment reports for existing facilities.
• Coordinate structural design requirements with architectural, civil, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, and other engineering disciplines.
• Delegate engineering and drafting responsibilities and provide technical oversight within a multidisciplinary project team.
• Develop structural design concepts and define structural systems using Revit and other BIM tools.
• Design in accordance with applicable IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, TMS, state and local requirements, and Department of Defense Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC).
• Utilize structural analysis and design software such as RISA and other industry standard engineering tools.

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
• 10+ years of structural engineering experience with demonstrated experience in building and facility design.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Demonstrated experience in seismic analysis and design of buildings, including seismic force resisting systems, diaphragms, collectors, anchorage, and foundations.
• Strong knowledge and design experience with structural steel, steel deck and composite floor systems, reinforced concrete, masonry, and foundation systems.
• Experience with structural analysis and design software such as RISA 3D, SAP2000, or similar industry standard software.
• Experience developing and reviewing structural models and construction documents using Revit. Proficiency with Bluebeam or similar document review software.
• Working knowledge of applicable structural codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, AISC 341, and TMS 402/602.
• Ability to independently develop structural systems, perform calculations, review construction documents, and provide technical direction to project teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required for this position.
• Willingness to travel to client offices and project sites as needed. (5% percent of the time).
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Structural Engineer (SE) License
  • Master's Degree
  • Guiding Principles Compliance (GPCP) or LEED certification
  • Experience and / or interest in sustainable design desired
  • Experience with federal projects and familiarity with Department of Defense Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and federal design requirements.

Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to sit and work at a computer for extended periods while preparing drawings and project documentation.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout office or project site environments.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move materials, equipment, or documents weighing up to 10 pounds; infrequent lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required.
  • Requires use of hands and fingers for operating a computer, drafting software, and standard office equipment.
  • Requires visual ability to review engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and technical documents.

Additional Information:
  • Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Flexible work arrangements, including remote, hybrid, or in-office work, may be available based on business needs and employee performance.
  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $160,000 to $200,000 annually. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, education, experience, professional licensure, technical expertise, and other job-related factors.
