Civil and Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is hiring a senior Structural Engineer for our Manufacturing Infrastructure Services (MIS) team in our Pittsburgh, PA office. Responsibilities:

• Apply structural engineering codes, standards, and engineering judgment in the analysis and design of structural systems
• Analyze and design industrial buildings, equipment foundations, pipe racks, crane runway systems, material handling structures, equipment support structures, retaining structures, and miscellaneous steel and concrete systems
• Evaluate existing structures and facilities and develop modifications, repairs, strengthening systems, and additions to support new or revised operational requirements
• Conduct and oversee structural analysis and design using software such as STAAD, TEDDS, RISA, and spMats for industrial buildings, foundations, equipment support structures, masonry structures, and miscellaneous steel and concrete systems
• Establish structural design criteria, technical approaches, and project-specific design requirements
• Prepare and review structural calculations, specifications, drawings, and details for steel, concrete, masonry, and other structural systems
• Provide technical direction and quality oversight for structural designs, calculations, models, drawings, and specifications prepared by others
• Serve as the structural discipline lead and primary point of contact when coordinating with project managers, other discipline leads, clients, and contractors
• Serve as Engineer of Record for assigned projects and construction packages as required
• Coordinate structural design requirements and project criteria with architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, process, and other project disciplines
• Manage structural engineering scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables for assigned projects
• Perform or oversee field investigations, existing-condition assessments, and construction-phase structural support
• Train and mentor less experienced engineers and designers
• Develop structural engineering labor-hour estimates for ongoing projects and new proposals 
• Participate in proposal development, client communication, and business development activities as appropriate

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related discipline is required• 10+ years of structural engineering experience including experience supporting heavy industrial and manufacturing facilities.

• Experience leading multidisciplinary structural projects and directing teams of engineers and designers• Active Professional Engineering License (P.E.) • Demonstrated knowledge and application of applicable building codes and structural standards including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, AISI, AWS D1.1, MBMA, SDI, and SJI.• Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as STAAD, RISA, TEDDS, and spMats• Experience evaluating and modifying existing structures and facilities

• Experience preparing and reviewing structural calculations, specifications, drawings, and construction documents

• Experience developing structural engineering scope, labor-hour estimates, schedules, and budgets

• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, project managers, technical staff, and other project disciplines

• Ability to perform field/site visits• Ability to travel up to 10% as required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience evaluating, modifying, and expanding operating industrial and manufacturing facilities.
