Full Job Description
What You Will Do:

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to help start our new Dallas office. This position presents a unique opportunity for a technical engineer with an entrepreneurial mindset seeking a blend of technical and business development responsibilities. You will have the opportunity to directly influence the growth of our business, balancing hands-on structural engineering work with strategic involvement in client relationship building, proposal development, and market opportunity identification. This position is designed for an engineer ready to take the next step by driving both project success and business growth while working in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

Responsibilities:

Business Development & Client Management:
  • Help identify new business opportunities and contribute to expanding Bennett & Pless's client base in the market.
  • Develop new and maintain existing strong relationships with existing clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders through project communications and securing new work.
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and networking events to promote Bennett & Pless.
  • Apply technical knowledge and expertise to prepare proposals and statements of qualifications.
  • Partner with the Bennett & Pless marketing team and market sector leaders for materials as needed for the local market and identified industry events.
  • Secures new work from existing clients in various markets.

Structural Engineering:
  • Serve as the project engineer/manager on engineering projects:
    1. Oversee the preparation of construction documents, specifications, and project schedules with support from internal staff.
    2. Coordinates information across all disciplines to ensure deliverables are compliant with client expectations and established organizational quality standards.
    3. Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to develop integrated project solutions.
  • As required, perform engineering work on small engineer projects including design calculations and oversees the preparation of construction documents, reviewing BIM and AutoCAD renderings, and submittals.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) for local projects.


What We Are Looking For:

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) required, Structural Engineer (SE) is a plus.
  • 8+ minimum years of experience in the AEC industry doing engineering design with a successful track record of project execution.
  • 3+ years' experience of related business development or client management experience.
  • Successful track record of successfully delivering of a variety of engineering projects.
  • Working knowledge of Revit is preferred.
  • Experience with industry standard software, including but not limited to Microsoft products, Bentley (RAM) products, RISA, EnerCalc, Adapt, etc. Experience with ETABS and/or Tekla Structural Designer is a plus.

Skills, Competencies, & Attributes :
  • Experience in the Data Center, Industrial, Life Sciences, and/or Manufacturing sectors is a plus.
  • Must be a self-starter and always willing to listen, learn and improve.
