Full Job Description
The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding a Senior Structural Designer to our Civil/Structural team based in Thunder Bay, ON. This is a new vacant position for which we are actively recruiting.

Your Role:
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience
  • Produce preliminary and detailed structural engineering 3D models and 2D construction drawings of industrial structural infrastructure such as steel racks and supports, building envelope and accessories, concrete foundations, concrete and steel piles, stairs, platforms, and ladders.
  • Assisting with the preparation of construction work packages, material requisitions and other deliverables or reports as required.
  • Integrate underground scan/survey or 3D laser scan data with 3D model and 2D drawings.
  • Check 2D drawings and 3D models for clashes and constructability with other disciplines.
  • Work closely and share knowledge within the company and with clients.
  • Resolve technical issues with leads and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Helping to ensure that project schedule and budgets are maintained and adhered to.
  • Helping to ensure all project scope items are addressed and quality objectives met.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.


Qualifications:
  • Certificate or diploma in architectural or civil/structural technology, CADD, BIM, or building science based programs with 3D modelling training.
  • CTech, AScT or ASET considered an asset.
  • Experience in oil and gas, heavy industrial, infrastructure or transportation sectors considered an asset.
  • Experience with Revit, Plant 3D, AutoCAD 2D and 3D, CADWorx, and Navisworks required.
  • Experience with ProSteel or MicroStation considered an asset.
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil3D or OpenRoads considered an asset.
  • Must have experience with industrial concrete and steel design and detailing.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidiscipline stakeholders and lead 3D modelling development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required for internal team interfaces and client liaison.
  • Highly organized and resourceful with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to effectively plan time and prioritize on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Able to work with flexibility while maintaining high standards and quality work.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $100,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
