OverviewGeosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Engineer or Scientist in our environmental sciences and engineering practice in our Washington, DC office. The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and practical experience to real-world situations related to environmental due diligence and contaminated site assessment & remediation for a diverse national private and public sector client base, while also learning and expanding the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Based on your current level of experience, you may be asked to take on task-level or project management responsibilities, along with business development, and staff mentoring tasks;
- Supporting projects involving due diligence with substantial historic research;
- Technical research, review, and management of documents and data from publicly-available and private sources to support consulting and litigation support projects;
- Providing litigation support services, including related to hazardous waste and material management.
- Fieldwork such as soil, soil vapor, and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, construction quality assurance and oversight, and remediation system Operations & Management (O&M);
- Data compilation, review, and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures;
- Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals; and
- Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or geology. (required)
- Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least 7 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Knowledge of federal and state-specific regulatory drivers related to environmental assessment and remediation. (required)
- Prior experience in environmental consulting. (valuable)
- An outstanding track record for client management and technical leadership. (preferred)
- Project experience involving environmental regulatory compliance, historical research, and environmental assessment. (preferred)
- Experience working on demanding, sophisticated, and legally sensitive projects. (preferred)
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and related software; AutoCAD and/or GIS (preferred)
- Working knowledge of AI tools to support consulting assignments. (valuable)
- Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
- Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
- Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
- Minimum Salary: $101,650/year / Maximum Salary: $145,940/year (Washington, D.C)
