About the Opportunity

Welch LLP is currently looking for a Senior Staff Accountant for its growing Toronto office. This particular role is ideal for someone who has an entrepreneurial spirit and wants to gain diverse experience. This position allows for a hybrid work arrangement which consists of a combination of in-office and remote work with a minimum of 4 days in office.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Completion of assurance and accounting engagements, including the relevant tax filings, with dedicated resources including paperless office infrastructure.
  • Overseeing junior staff on assurance and accounting engagements
  • Train staff and provide guidance as needed
  • Identifying and resolving assurance and accounting engagement issues.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, procedures, and internal processes
  • Analyze financial documents and reports
  • Identify client's financial goals and objectives, answer any questions and concerns clients may have
  • Prepare reports and findings
  • Prepare returns


Qualifications
  • 3+ years of progressive public accounting experience, working on multiple client accounts
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related field
  • CPA, CA designation, or working towards
  • 3+ years of experience in audit and assurance
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good technical knowledge of GAAP requirements.
  • 3+ years of experience with Caseware and Taxprep.
  • Strong understanding of a client-focused environment including related deadlines and the ability to work to meet those deadlines
  • Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
