Senior Accountant- Reporting and Analysis

The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting through timely month-end close activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, and detailed gross profit analysis. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations, investigate reconciling items, and ensure timely resolution of outstanding differences.
  • Perform detailed gross profit analysis, including variance analysis by merchandise category, vendor, and location.
  • Analyze sales, inventory, cost of sales, markdowns, shrink, and other factors impacting gross margin performance.
  • Prepare monthly management financial reports and schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal control requirements.
  • Participate in system enhancements, automation initiatives, and process improvement projects.
  • Ad-hoc duties as needed


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • CPA certification or CPA eligible is a plus.


Key Skills:
  • Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience performing financial statement and gross profit analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, Power Query, and complex formulas.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle or similar financial systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of inventory accounting, cost of sales, and gross margin reporting
  • Experience supporting process automation and reporting enhancements using Power BI or similar analytics tools.
