Job Description:

The Chief Inspector position ensures quality control procedures and inspections are carried out in accordance with Federal Air Regulations, C3ISR Ground Operations Procedures, and Quality Assurance Procedures Manual. Participates as a partner with overall Maintenance Team to ensure quality systems are in place and effective. Supervise Inspectors performing Quality Assurance activities in accordance with applicable Technical Data. Requires ability to identify and understand non-conformities as they relate to safety-of-flight inspections, procedural breakdowns, and/or program (process) audits. Requires the ability to evaluate process compliance, write/review Corrective Action/Preventative Action (CAPA) reports, perform root cause analysis and validate quality processes, responses, and plans.

This position recommends corrective actions, disposition and modifications. Performs inspections and critical task inspections. Reports to the Program Quality Assurance Manager.

Essential Functions:
  • Performs quality audits.
  • Performs aircraft weight and balance as required.
  • Ensures proper execution of FAA Form 337.
  • Provides guidance on technical matters for the aircraft.
  • Ensures all Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives are up to date for all aircraft assigned.
  • Coordinates field approvals, FAR interpretations, etc with FAA.
  • Monitors performance of subordinate Inspectors.
  • Recommends changes to processes and programs for the Program Quality Assurance Managers approval.
  • Ensure Maintenance/Work Instructions and Quality Procedures reflect most current policy and procedures.
  • Assists in aircraft/equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks.
  • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention and safety at all times.
  • Assist with aircraft servicing, launch and recovery, corrosion control and inspections.
  • Maintain strict compliance with company and government Communications Security (COMSEC) policies and procedures.
  • Willingness and ability to work day shift, night shift and weekend duty and travel as part of maintenance recovery team as required. CONUS and OCONUS deployments may be required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Airframe and Powerplant Certificate (A&P license).
  • Current FAA Inspection Authorization (IA), or the ability to obtain IA.
  • Minimum of four (4) years hands-on experience practicing aircraft maintenance.
  • Minimum of four (4) years in Aircraft Quality Control/Assurance.
  • Valid civilian drivers license with ability to obtain and maintain a government flight line drivers license.
  • Must be a US citizen.

Preferred Additional Skills:
  • P&WC PT6 experience preferred.
  • Turboprop experience preferred.
