Job Title: Senior Supplier Quality Engineer Job Code: 38237 Job Location: Mason, OH Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days- totaling 80 hours worked- and have every other Friday off Job Description:L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Senior Specialist, Quality Engineer to join its Space & Sensors Division in Mason, OH. This individual will report to the Supplier Quality Manager and provide Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) support for various projects in the Space & Sensor business.
Acting as a central point of communication, ensuring that all team members are aligned with project goals, timelines, and budgets; the Sr. SQE will ensure suppliers deliver components that meet all requirements.
Essential Functions:- Key Initiative SupportManufacturability assessments of new and/or critical products. Lead from the front and be capable of providing expertise in various manufacturing processes to ensure Design for Manufacturability and Technical Problem-Solving excellence.
- Supplier Manufacturing SupportLeverage direct manufacturing experience to develop suppliers and ensure new and existing suppliers can meet contract requirements. Support the new supplier selection process, providing technical input and expertise.
- Supplier Management SupportMonitor and manage a portfolio of suppliers to continuously improve supplier performance KPIs in Quality and On-Time-Delivery, while minimizing Cost of Poor Quality. Review and approve PPAP, APQP, and FAIR packages from suppliers.
- Early detection and resolution of nonconformances.
- Apply effective interpretation and application of Quality Standards, such as AS9100, ISO-9001, NADCAP, J-STD, IPC standards, etc.
- Travel of up to 40% domestically.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of Quality Engineering experience or a minimum of 10 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years' experience in reading and interpreting designs/blueprints of complex nature. Understanding applicable quality standards such as AS9100, ISO9001, NADCAP.
- 5+ years' experience with problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Value Stream Mapping, CAPA) and quality tools (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, Gage R&R).
- 5+ years' experience in auditing Quality Management Systems at suppliers.
Preferred Additional Skills:- Lean Manufacturing and 6-Sigma/OpEx Green Belt Certification.
- ASQ® Certifications.
- Aerospace or Defense Manufacturing experience.
- Experience with J-STD Workmanship, ANSI J-Standards (Class 3) and IPC Workmanship Standards (Class 3), Teamcenter and TipQA.
- Highly motivated and ability to work independently.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
