Your role and key responsibilities

We are Looking for a Senior Specialist, Construction. This role will be responsible for leading and managing critical construction engineering efforts, focusing on static architecture and infrastructure projects. This role involves providing technical guidance, overseeing construction operations, and ensuring project compliance with design standards, safety regulations, and timelines. The Senior Construction Engineer will collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders, while also mentoring junior engineers and ensuring that all projects meet the highest quality standards. The position demands a deep understanding of construction methodologies, as well as the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

This opportunity is within Operations department and may require you to travel up to 90 days/year for trainings and workshops domestically or internationally during the first year of employment.

This position is in-person and located in the charming town of St. Thomas ON.

What you bring to the team
  • Lead engineering efforts for large-scale construction projects, focusing on static architecture and building infrastructure.
  • Supervise and coordinate construction activities, ensuring projects are executed in alignment with design specifications, industry standards, and safety protocols.
  • Provide technical expertise and problem-solving support during the planning, design, and execution phases of construction projects.
  • Review and analyze construction drawings, technical documents, and project specifications to ensure compliance with design and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee site inspections and quality control assessments to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure that safety standards are maintained.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of project reports, including progress updates, inspection records, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist in resource planning and procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing corrective actions as necessary to avoid delays or cost overruns.
  • Serve as a mentor to junior engineers, providing technical guidance and professional development support.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental sustainability and best practices throughout all construction phases.
  • Engage in project cost control, ensuring that construction activities remain within financial constraints.


What makes you stand out
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or some other construction-related field of study, or equivalent.
  • P.Eng. or P.E. preferred
  • +8 years working in the construction industry (i.e., engineering-, architecture-, or construction-related, or equivalent), preferably with execution of industrial facilities.• Experience working specifically on large projects.
  • Experience being responsible for technical aspects of a construction project related to Civil Engineering, including but not limited to: Earthwork, Foundations, Buried Pipe
  • Experience working within large, complex project teams and actively participating in construction meetings.
  • Experience working on Design-Build projects
  • Can read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  • Understands the nuances of the design and construction process.
  • Knowledge of rack supporter system (ASRS),
  • Able to work safely on an active construction site in accordance with the Health & Safety Plan.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with CAD software, building information modeling (BIM), and other construction management tools.
  • Knowledge of local building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Able to predict potential problems and solve them using logical approaches and analytical thinking.
  • Can collaborate effectively with team members and organize activities that delegate work efficiently.
  • Can communicate in a professional manner with engineers, architects, and construction managers both verbally and in writing.
  • Has high degrees of team orientation and social competence.
  • Detail oriented and will diligently ensure that components of the project meet the overall goal.
  • Proficient in construction scheduling, workflows, and quality control/quality assurance.
