Job Description

Our Global Engineering Solutions (GES) executes a wide variety of capital and expense projects to ensure that our company has the capabilities and facilities to meet our goal to provide World Class Supply of Medicines and promote our Company's goal. The Global Engineering Solutions (GES) group is seeking an Senior Specialist of Engineering to manage large capital projects independently or a series of smaller projects within a portfolio in the manufacturing, laboratory and infrastructure lines of business.


Our GES Engineers support internal and external manufacturing operations to remain operational, continuously improving and innovative. With our extensive range of facilities and environments, our Engineers have opportunities across many varied areas including Biological, Chemical, Automation, Capital Projects, Maintenance, Safety, Process Development, Technical Services, Utilities and Validation. 


Responsibilities
  • Manage an integrated project team to deliver critical assets on time and within a prescribed budget.
  • Manage a portfolio of low or medium segment capital projects or a single high segment capital project from initial evaluation, scope development, and execution to completion within time, budget, SHE, and quality constraints.
  • Obtain input and coordinate with design leaders and external FEL partners on equipment or facility design, material selection, and installation proposals that meet operating requirements to satisfy the development of FEL packages and detailed design packages.
  • Assist/participate in equipment reviews and installation including FAT and SAT.
  • Manage various meetings and drive project goals.
  • Ensure project designs are safe, efficient, and incorporate best engineering and compliance practices, meeting GES safety standards and local standards requirements.
  • Prepare and implement appropriate SHE plans during project scoping and manage the implementation of the plans during execution, including the use of peer reviews, accident investigation, contractor safety management, and implementing areas for improvement.
  • Lead the development of project execution plans.
  • Verify that project scopes provide an effective business solution.
  • Navigate through business requirements and goals and impact to company financial objectives.
  • Manage projects process through effective design strategies.
  • Develop and implement suitable procurement strategies.
  • Understand and manage project cost budgeting and control.
  • Manage schedule development and control; understand scheduling principles and coordinate project requirements to have others develop detailed schedules.
  • Provide construction management oversight.
  • Implement change management and control.
  • Manage communications requirements with effective reporting and distribution of information.
  • Plan and mitigate risk management.
  • Proactively prepare and communicate project status reports for management review, identifying areas of concern with proposed corrective actions.
  • Manage/implement commissioning, qualification, contract administration, and project close-out.
  • Develop good relationships with cross-functional areas consisting of all aspects of the business including Operations, Quality, Technology, Maintenance, and Safety.
  • Assemble and manage multiple internal and/or external resources to develop scope and execute projects.

The first assignment will be in Rahway, NJ.   Future assignments may be in West Point, PA / Rahway, NJ / Wilmington, DE.  Successful candidates must be able to work at any of these locations.   As a global organization, in the future, candidates may need to travel 50% of their time in order to support projects within the Americas at the various plant sites.

Qualifications

Required

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience executing/delivering a variety of capital and/or expense projects.
  • Experience in managing an integrated project team to deliver critical assets on time and within a prescribed budget.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills along with the ability to deliver project status and funding presentations in a concise, effective, and organized manner.
  • Outstanding decision-making skills, self-motivator, and strengths in change management and team alignment.
  • Seeks out information, expertise in the execution of all activities to be completed.
  • The ability to collaborate in a team environment that is sensitive to the needs of the business.
  • The ability to travel 50%.

Preferred

  • Experience in Lean Project Delivery Methodologies (i.e. target value design, off-site fabrication, pull planning scheduling tools) considered a plus.
  • Familiarity with bioprocessing equipment/unit operations (bioreactors, chromatography, buffer systems, hygienic utilities (e.g. WFI)) considered a plus.

The salary range for this role is

$117,000.00 - $184,200.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.

The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
