Position Description

The solution architect proactively and holistically leads and supports enterprise architecture (EA) activities that guide the development and management of a portfolio of solutions. Solutions include projects and products, systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information), shared infrastructure services and shared application services.
They understand the concepts of business goals, objectives and business outcomes, business capabilities, value-streams and business processes and their importance in solution architecture. The solutions architect provides the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks related to support the development of technology solutions to ensure that solutions meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards.
They create deliverables for managing the organization's portfolio of "to be" and "as is" solutions - including systems (applications, processes, information and technology), shared infrastructure services, and shared application services and components to enable and drive targeted business outcomes.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Interpret Business Needs
  • Translates business and technical needs into an architectural plan, documenting all solution design work and analysis.
  • Collaborates with product owners to understand business drivers, current capabilities, future requirements, creating enterprise solution design and change requirements.

Assess Technology
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and platforms to support business goals
  • Analyzes the business-IT environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and recommends solutions for improvement
  • Supports product managers in end-of-life product decisions to maintain, refresh or retire services or systems, including applications, technologies, processes and information

Apply Technology
  • Leads the evaluation, design, and analysis for the implementation of solutions architecture across specific business applications or technologies based on enterprise business strategy, business capabilities, value-streams, business requirements, enterprise standards and regulatory requirements such as HIPAA.
  • Creates architectural designs and artifacts to guide and contextualize solution development across products, services, projects, and systems, including solution blueprints, data flow diagrams, and integration patterns. Collaborates with other architects as necessary for alignment across projects, products, or initiatives.
  • Defines the principles, guidelines, standards, and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision.
  • Coordinates with development teams to identify needs and maintains a roadmap of required design changes due to changes in the enterprise technology landscape.
  • Provides consulting support and subject matter expertise to developers within agile teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact and risks, taking account of technical, architectural debt and overall enterprise architecture standards.

Job Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in IT, with at least 4 years in a solution architecture role developing architecture blueprints, strategies and roadmaps
  • Experience designing, implementing, and integrating high-performance, scalable, reusable, enterprise applications leveraging Websphere Open Liberty, Springboot, HCL Portal, database technologies like Oracle, SQL Server, and API technologies
  • Knowledge of various development languages and frameworks like Java, C# and Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JSF, and Angular
  • Proficiency in designing, implementing integration architecture like event driven architecture leveraging SOAP web services, RESTful API, HL7 FHIR standards and technologies like Apache Kafka.
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce and associated technology stack.
  • Understanding of at least one of the cloud computing platforms like AWS, Azure (preferred), or Google Cloud
  • Experience architecting and implementing secure CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Maven etc. for continuous integration and delivery
  • Strong domain knowledge of healthcare payer operations including claims, eligibility, benefits, provider networks, and care management.
