Position SummaryThe Senior Software Engineer plays a central role in designing, building, and maintaining the enterprise systems that power National University's technology ecosystem. As a member of the Development and Salesforce team, this position delivers scalable, high-quality software solutions across the Salesforce, MuleSoft, and Azure platforms, with particular emphasis on the integrations that connect these systems to third-party vendor applications. The Senior Software Engineer provides technical leadership and mentorship to the development team and partners closely with the Associate Director of Development and Salesforce on major initiatives related to platform modernization, integration architecture, and engineering best practices.
Essential Functions:- Provides technical leadership and mentorship to the development team, promoting consistent engineering best practices and code quality.
- Serves as an active, hands-on contributor to the design, development, and maintenance of the Salesforce, MuleSoft, and Azure integration platforms.
- Partners with UX/UI Designers, Product Managers, and Business Analysts to identify, scope, and implement features, integrations, and core platform functionality.
- Leads technical architecture and infrastructure discussions, driving sound technical decisions across integration and platform initiatives.
- Plans development work from inception to delivery, including organizing tasks, estimating work, and adjusting to meet objectives, requirements, deadlines, and business goals.
- Conducts and participates in code reviews to promote consistent engineering excellence and shared knowledge, continuously identifying opportunities to improve platform performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Serves as a technical advisor and escalation point for third-party vendor integrations, evaluating vendor solutions and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
- Designs and maintains CI/CD deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:Education & Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with 4 years of relevant experience
- Or 10 years of experience as a software developer or in a related technical role
- Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of six (6) years of experience developing on Salesforce and MuleSoft platforms.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing integration architectures across Salesforce, MuleSoft, and Azure.
- Experience with GitHub and DevOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong, hands-on proficiency across multiple languages and technologies, including Salesforce Apex, MuleSoft (Anypoint Platform/RAML), Java, C#/.NET, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, SOQL, and T-SQL.

- Strong problem-solving orientation, with persistence in pursuing solutions to complex, ambiguous challenges.
- Ability to communicate technical solutions clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Serve as a mentor to other developers on the team as the organization migrates to cloud-based systems and modern DevOps practices.
- Advocate for automated unit testing and quality engineering practices.
- Broad, polyglot engineering experience across Salesforce and MuleSoft, with the versatility to work effectively across multiple languages, frameworks, and platforms.
- Solid understanding of web standards and best practices, including responsive design, with a desire to stay current on modern development trends and the judgment to apply them appropriately.
- Experience with both relational and non-relational databases.
- Experience with Azure services (App Services, Functions, Service Bus, SQL, Key Vault) strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD practices using GitHub Actions.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Strong analytical ability to identify and evaluate issues, problems, and opportunities; compare data from multiple sources to draw conclusions; and select an appropriate course of action consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.
- Ability to work independently and foster a collaborative spirit within a diverse team of any size, maintaining strong working relationships while operating in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and shifting priorities.
