Full Job Description
The Top of Funnel team owns the critical first steps of a member's journey: from registration and authentication to onboarding and provider matching. Your work will directly influence how millions of people access mental healthcare for the first time, and you will bring both growth-oriented experimentation and a commitment to architectural quality and reliability to everything you build.

Please note that this is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, with an expectation to be in the office 2-3 days per week at our 2 Embarcadero Ctr. location. Candidates must be based in the San Francisco metro area or able to relocate independently within 90 days of their start date. Occasional travel will be required for team on-sites.

What you'll do:
  • Design and build scalable, performant front-end features and systems using React, Next.js, and TypeScript, with a strong emphasis on engineering rigor and maintainability
  • Drive top-of-funnel member growth initiatives, including A/B experimentation, feature flagging, and conversion optimization, in close partnership with product and growth teams
  • Own and improve critical member-facing flows-registration, authentication, onboarding, and provider matching-delivering best-in-class user experiences at scale
  • Harden existing front-end architecture by identifying and resolving technical debt, improving reliability, reducing latency, and elevating overall code quality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams-product, design, data, and backend engineering-to ship high-impact features that improve the top of funnel experience for members seeking care
  • Provide technical leadership in architectural discussions, code reviews, and front-end system planning, setting a high bar for the team
  • Advocate for engineering excellence: test coverage, observability, accessibility, performance benchmarking, and documentation
  • Own technical delivery for complex front-end projects or subsystems, breaking down ambiguous requirements into incremental, shippable units
  • Champion improvements in developer experience, front-end tooling, and build infrastructure
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support system reliability and respond to production issues
  • Mentor and support the growth of other engineers on the team

What success looks like:
  • Deliver high-impact, high-quality projects on time and with stakeholder satisfaction
  • Maintain high system reliability and quality through strong testing and scalable design
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with product, design, data, or other teams, to align on goals and delivery
  • Lead by example through strong individual contributions and peer mentorship
  • Deliver measurable improvements in engineering velocity, scalability, or developer experience
  • Identify cross-team opportunities and contribute to organizational-level improvement

What you'll bring:
  • Deep expertise in React, Next.js, and TypeScript; demonstrated mastery of the ecosystem including rendering strategies, state management, performance optimization, and component architecture
  • Proven ability to independently lead delivery of complex front-end projects from design through production
  • Experience with growth and experimentation frameworks, including A/B testing, feature flags, and analytics instrumentation (e.g., LaunchDarkly, Mixpanel, or similar)
  • Strong track record of improving existing systems - refactoring for reliability, performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability - not just shipping net-new features
  • Experience working in cross-functional Agile teams, partnering closely with product and design
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog or Sentry
  • Strong understanding of web performance fundamentals: Core Web Vitals, bundle optimization, lazy loading, and rendering performance
  • Experience working in cross-functional Agile teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills and high attention to detail

Nice to have:
  • Experience with growth initiatives, authentication, registration flows, or member onboarding
  • Experience working in a healthcare or mental health tech environment
