Position SummaryWe're looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) to join our Raise team, the fundraising platform behind branded giving experiences for thousands of nonprofits, everything from drag-and-drop form and campaign page building to A/B testing, donor intelligence, and data-driven ask personalization.
You'll help build, scale, and maintain the web applications that power the Virtuous Raise product, from crafting polished, donor-facing UIs (Raise pages need to look and feel unmistakably on-brand) to designing the backend systems and integrations that make personalization and real-time performance possible at scale. This is a "product engineer" role: you'll own features end to end, from discovery to finish, not just execute a spec handed to you.
It's essential that you already know and actively use modern AI development tools, and that you bring a pre-AI engineering foundation, we're looking for a tenured engineer who has adopted AI as a force multiplier, not a "vibe coder." You'll need the judgment to review AI-generated code architecturally and catch it when it starts to go off the rails, while staying firmly in the driver's seat on correctness, design, and long-term code health.
Our current tech stack is C# on the backend, with Vue on the frontend (React/Svelte experience translates well). This role is roughly a 50/50 split between backend and frontend work, with a front-end lean given the design sensitivity of a donor-facing product like Raise.
Responsibilities- Own features across Raise end to end, from forms and campaign pages to A/B testing, analytics/reporting, and data-driven donor upgrades, with the same weight given to visual polish as to functionality
- Help build the next wave of agentic experiences inside Raise, including agentic form and page building for nonprofit customers (leveraging their brand, voice, and data) and extending that agentic approach into email and other donor-facing touchpoints
- Design, build, and ship net-new, revenue-driving features across the full stack
- Own the performance, scalability, and reliability of the systems you build, instrumenting and monitoring them as first-class parts of the work
- Review AI-generated code with real architectural judgment, catching issues before they ship rather than rubber-stamping AI output
- Collaborate closely with Product and Design to translate donor and nonprofit customer needs into technical solutions
- Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions, contributing thoughtfully without becoming a bottleneck (we're looking for strong opinions, held loosely, not someone who slows the team down nitpicking style)
- Write clean, testable, efficient code across the frontend and backend
- Research and resolve customer bugs and issues preventing a world-class product experience
- Support a culture of experimentation, iteration, and continuous delivery
You Must Have- 6+ years building modern web applications, including meaningful time spent running and scaling them in production
- Proficiency with C# and APIs, plus experience integrating with RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs
- Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and frontend frameworks such as Vue, React, or Svelte
- Hands-on experience with AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) as a regular part of your development workflow, alongside a strong pre-AI engineering foundation
- Experience operating cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred) and infrastructure-as-code tooling (e.g., Terraform, TerraGrunt)
- Strong understanding of relational databases, not just querying them, but tuning them: indexing, query optimization, and strategies for scaling (read replicas, partitioning, connection pooling, etc.)
- Solid DevOps fundamentals: CI/CD pipelines, containerization, infrastructure monitoring, and hands-on experience scaling applications under real load
- Comfort with observability tooling (metrics, logging, tracing, alerting), DataDog preferred, and a habit of using it to debug and prevent production issues
- Design sensibility, comfort owning donor-facing, polished UI work, not just functional implementation
- A love for building quality products that delight users and solve real problems
- Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset
Nice to Haves- Familiarity with container orchestration (Kubernetes) or modern PaaS deployment
- Experience defining and working against SLOs/SLIs, or otherwise formalizing reliability targets
- Experience working in a SaaS or B2B product company
- Prior experience in the nonprofit tech space
- Contributions to open-source projects or relevant technical blogs
- Excitement about helping teams grow and mature their engineering practice
What We Offer- Market competitive pay leveraging Carta data
- Employee recognition through Bonusly (birthdays, anniversaries, achievements, etc.)
- 401(k) retirement plan with company matching- 50% match up to 6% of compensation after 90 days
- We value our employee's work-life balance and encourage taking advantage of Unlimited PTO
