Full Job Description
About the role

D-Wave is seeking a Senior Software Developer (Back-end) to contribute to the ongoing development of Leap™, our quantum-classical hybrid cloud platform. This role is ideal for an experienced software engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, taking ownership of projects, and collaborating across teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions.

Since launching Leap, the world's first real-time quantum application environment, D-Wave has continued to expand the platform with new capabilities that enable developers and enterprises to solve computationally complex problems using quantum-powered applications. As a member of the Leap UI and Admin team, you will design, develop, and maintain services and platform capabilities that support our growing ecosystem of users and applications.

You will work closely with product owners, developers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality software while helping to improve engineering practices, mentor team members, and contribute to the technical direction of the platform. While quantum computing experience is not required, you will have the opportunity to learn and grow in this rapidly evolving field.

What you'll do

  • Own features end-to-end, from design through implementation, testing, deployment, and support
  • Develop new functionality using agile Scrum processes and contribute to requirements definition and technical design
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues and assigned defects
  • Write and maintain automated unit and integration tests, and support quality, performance, and scalability efforts
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure consistency and quality
  • Collaborate across teams to identify risks, dependencies, and technical blockers early and help drive resolution
  • Mentor junior engineers and support onboarding and team effectiveness
  • Contribute to improving engineering practices, system design, and developer experience
  • Participate in the annual D-Wave Hackathon to prototype and explore new ideas

About You

  • Experience building and maintaining web applications and services
  • Experience with SQL databases and data modeling fundamentals
  • Experience working in Linux/Unix environments
  • Proficiency with Git workflows (branching, merging, pull requests, code reviews)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable mindset
