ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Snowflake Data Engineer with Administration Experience will be responsible for the design, development, deployment and optimization of data pipelines and will also play the role of backup Snowflake admin.
In this role, you will:
The Senior Snowflake Data Engineer will split responsibilities between hands-on data engineering (pipeline development, data modeling, performance tuning) and backup platform administration (RBAC, cost optimization, backup recovery).
They will work closely with Product Owners, Data Engineers, Architects, and Scrum/Kanban teams to ensure alignment with platform performance standards, security requirements, architectural designs, and Agile delivery expectations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.
- 7+ years of overall tech experience as Snowflake/Java/Python/ETL Developer and 2+ year of Snowflake Administration
- Ability to work independently and effectively with little to no supervision.
- Strong Snowflake Platform Administration and Development experience, including virtual warehouse optimization, complex RBAC design, data modeling, and schema management.
- Deep understanding of Snowflake architecture (Storage, Compute, Cloud Services, Time Travel, Fail-safe, and Zero-Copy Cloning).
- Hands-on experience developing efficient data pipelines, utilizing Snowflake features like Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks, and Stored Procedures (SQL/Python/Java).
- Must have advanced SQL skills for writing complex analytical queries, data transformation, performance tuning, and query profiling.
- Demonstrated ability to use Python or shell scripting to automate database administration and data engineering workflows.
- AWS experience (managing IAM roles, security policies, and S3 external stages).
- Team player with excellent executive function and communication skills.
- US Citizen or Green Card Holder and must have been in the US for 3 of the last 5 years.
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior Java, Python, or other object-oriented software development experience.
- Experience designing and implementing disaster recovery, data replication, and backup/failover strategies in Snowflake across regions or cloud providers.
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience; certification preferred.
- Snowflake certifications (SnowPro Core, Advanced Administrator, or Advanced Data Engineer).
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience using Terraform or Schemachange for Snowflake object and pipeline provisioning.
- CLI Linux experience and automation of cloud-native data architectures.
- FinOps and cost-optimization experience (implementing resource monitors, credit alerts, and optimizing warehouse compute efficiency for incremental loads).
- Experience working with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) information systems.
- CMS/Medicare or Medicaid claims data experience.
Target Salary Range$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
