Overview

Garmin International seeks Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Olathe, KS; Multiple positions):

Essential Functions
  • Establish and provide training to development teams on operational process and automations that promote the software integrity and stability
  • Lead design/definition activities for moderate- and high-complexity systems, features, and/or process
  • Monitor and support moderate- and high-complexity software releases
  • Design and implement improvements to the software lifecycle and production pipeline through automated tools/systems that align with industry best practices
  • Design and implement observability improvements to the software applications and infrastructure
  • Coordinate and improve monitoring practices across software applications and infrastructure
  • Build and/or maintain tools to generate reports
  • Maintain accurate data to facilitate reporting on key reliability SLOs for multiple products/systems
  • Full-time remote work is not available.
  • Individual contributor role

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in production environment.

Must show demonstrated experience in the following:
  • Successful implementation of moderately complex build and deployment automation
  • Working with DevOps-style tools such as AWS, Ansible, Jenkins, BitBucket, GitHub.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code technologies such as TerraForm, Ansible, and Puppet
  • Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
  • Implementing and supporting APM monitoring tools such as Zabbix and Dynatrace
  • Using Linux-based scripting languages such as Python, Bash and Groovy
  • Design, enhance, and develop complex multi-tiered server applications, requiring education and/or experience in software design, development, and maintenance necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Operational experience within cloud platforms such as OpenStack, AWS, and Azure.
  • Expertise in deploying, operating, and maintaining Kubernetes container orchestration platform experience.
  • Previous experience working in a team environment.

In lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience, will accept a Master's degree in same plus 3 years of relevant work experience.
