Full Job Description
Job Purpose

  • The Center of Excellence is seeking a research engineer to advance semiconductor sensing across R&D programs, focusing on automotive technologies such as image, radar, lidar, inertial, and environmental sensors.
  • The role involves conducting technology sensing, assessment, evaluation, benchmarking, and translating device and component-level insights into system-level value for automotive and intelligent mobility applications. The
    individual will collaborate closely with technical leadership, internal cross-functional teams, and external partners.
  • The position contributes to building internal expertise, strengthening cross-functional alignment, and supporting the CoE's mission to grow organization's long-term semiconductor capability.


Key Accountabilities

  • Assist in advanced research projects of emerging technologies utilizing Agile methodologies to prove hypothesis and define value with speed. Effectively utilize technical project resources
    while maintaining leading knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
  • Assist senior and principal researchers in sensing for NA market and consumer trends, extract emerging technologies, and propose research initiatives
  • Compile and prepare sensing results and conclusions for internal stakeholders in support of setting technical direction and strategy.
  • Report results of sensing results to department leadership, division leadership, and other internal partners to explain how findings may impact future product offerings.
  • Support technical teams, manage project timelines, and ensure deliverables meet quality standards.
  • Monitor emerging technologies utilizing Agile methodologies to prove hypothesis and define value with speed.


Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Minimum Educational Qualifications:
    Must have a Bachelor level degree in Engineering or a related STEM field.
  • Minimum work experience:
    At least 3 or more years of relevant industry experience
  • Other job-specifc skills
    3 Knowledge of the semiconductor industry: chip architectures, open-source IP/ISA, CPU/GPU/NPU, FPGAs, SoCs and heterogenous integration.
    3 Experience in digital / analog / mixed signal chip design is desirable
    3 Familiarity with Assembly language
    3 Industry standard EDA tools experience
    3 Experience in Verilog / SystemVerilog or similar HDL
    3 Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
    3 Excellent communication skills and ability to produce presentation documents
    3 Ability to appropriately communicate and share technical findings with stakeholders, including those without specialized technical expertise
    3 Demonstrated capability to engage in research activities and analytical problem solving, with an interest in examining existing approaches and contributing to continuous improvement efforts
    3 Ability to learn new topics of applicable principles to design and manufacturing challenges
    3 Working knowledge of Agile processes and methodologies
    3 Design experiments to test hypothesis and prove them out
    3 Make decisions, under senior staff supervision, bounded by the research mission and understanding of the company business model
    3 Ability to efficiently manage resources to achieve project initiatives and schedule


Workstyle

  • This is an onsite job. One remote workday per week may be possible, with prior departmental approval.
