We are seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to help build the future of last mile delivery at Amazon. In this role, you will architect and develop our sensor data platform that powers Amazon's autonomous delivery fleet, processing petabyte-scale data from LiDAR, cameras, IMUs, GPS, and control signals across every delivery mission.
Key job responsibilities
You will play an important role in developing the data infrastructure that enables next-generation delivery technology, working on challenging problems at unprecedented scale. Your work will power 15+ downstream teams across ML training, operations analytics, post-mission diagnostics, and visualization.
About the team
The Last Mile Delivery Automation organization at Amazon is pioneering the development of autonomous delivery solutions to revolutionize the final leg of package delivery. We combine robotics, autonomous systems, and artificial intelligence to create safe and efficient delivery solutions that will transform how packages reach customers.
Within this organization, the Data Platform team builds and owns the multi-tenant sensor data platform that ingests, catalogs, and serves massive volumes of sensor data for the entire autonomous delivery ecosystem. Our stack includes:
• Lakehouse Architecture - Bronze/Silver/Gold (medallion) tiered design using Apache Iceberg tables on S3 with KMS encryption and optimized Parquet partitioning strategies• Ingestion Pipelines - CDK-based pipelines processing terabytes/day of raw sensor recordings through enrichment, anonymization, and schema extraction into queryable Iceberg tables• ML Training Infrastructure - Enabling multi-GPU distributed model training with streaming directly from Iceberg tables into training frameworks; building Gold-tier training-ready datasets• Data Governance & Multi-Tenancy - IAM-enforced access control, data catalog, discoverability layer, and tenant isolation designed to support multiple sensor platforms• Sensor Data Visualization - Custom web platform for replaying and visualizing time-series sensor streams, camera feeds, and mission diagnostics• Post-Mission Deep Dive - Tooling that correlates mission events, sensor captures, and delivery outcomes for root cause analysis
This is a greenfield platform where you'll shape architecture decisions from the ground up, with direct collaboration with autonomy teams building the next generation of delivery technology.
