Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Scientist to join our research team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in flow cytometry, primary cell isolation and sorting, microscopy and imaging, and gene-silencing techniques (siRNA), with in vivo/in vitro mouse experience. This role will contribute to the design and execution of preclinical studies to advance therapeutic programs.
Key Responsibilities- Design, execute, and analyze complex in vitro / in vivo experiments to support research programs
- Lead and perform multi-parameter flow cytometry assays, including panel design, optimization, and data interpretation
- Perform and optimize primary cell isolation from tissues, including enzymatic and mechanical tissue dissociation, magnetic-activated cell sorting (MACS), and fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS), with attention to preserving cell viability, yield, native gene-expression signatures, and potential for further culture of the cells
- Perform and interpret microscopy-based assays, including high-content microscopy, immunofluorescence, confocal, and/or intravital imaging, to characterize cell and tissue phenotypes and validate target engagement
- Support mouse studies as needed, including disease models, dosing, tissue collection, and phenotypic analysis
- Develop and apply siRNA-based approaches for target validation and mechanistic studies
- Analyze and interpret data, generate reports, and present findings to cross-functional teams
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance project goals
- Mentor junior scientists and contribute to a collaborative team environment
- Maintain accurate experimental records and ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines
Qualifications- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field with 3-6+ years of relevant experience (industry preferred), or M.S. with significant experience
- Strong expertise in flow cytometry, including cell sorting (FACS), panel design, troubleshooting, and data analysis (e.g., FlowJo or similar tools)
- Hands-on experience with primary cell isolation techniques from mouse tissue, including tissue dissociation (enzymatic and mechanical), magnetic bead-based separation (MACS), and isolation of rare or fragile cell populations
- Hands-on experience with microscopy techniques (e.g., immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy) and associated image analysis software (e.g., ImageJ/Fiji, Imaris, or similar)
- Demonstrated experience with siRNA design, delivery, and functional validation
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with mouse models, including in vivo study design, dosing, and tissue collection
- Experience in translational or preclinical research environments
- Experience with cold-active or optimized dissociation protocols for isolating sensitive/rare cell types (e.g., podocytes, neurons, microglia) while minimizing dissociation-induced expression artifacts
- Experience with advanced imaging modalities (e.g., intravital microscopy, super-resolution, high-content imaging)
- Familiarity with additional molecular techniques (qPCR, Western blot, ELISA, RNA-seq, gene silencing, protein over-expression)
- Experience working in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting
The salary range for this role is $126,000 - $165,000. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. FL106 currently offers healthcare coverage, annual incentive program, retirement benefits and a broad range of other benefits. Compensation and benefits information is based on FL106's good faith estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future.
