DuPont Water Solutions, a global leader in ion exchange resin and membrane technologies, is seeking a
Senior Scientist - Applications R&D to join our team at the DuPont Experimental Station in Wilmington, Delaware.
In this customer-facing role, you will serve as a scientific expert and trusted technical partner, helping customers successfully adopt and apply DuPont technologies, particularly within the bioprocessing market. As part of the Ion Exchange Resins & Specialties team, you will collaborate with colleagues across R&D, Technical Service, Marketing, and Commercial functions to develop innovative solutions, advance new applications, and support business growth.
This position is an excellent opportunity for recent Ph.D. graduates and early-career scientists who are passionate about applying science to solve real-world customer challenges and are motivated to develop expertise across a variety of separation and purification technologies.
What You'll Do- Serve as a customer-facing technical expert supporting DuPont's portfolio of ion exchange and separation technologies.
- Partner directly with customers to understand technical challenges, identify opportunities, and develop solutions that deliver value.
- Design and execute laboratory studies to solve purification challenges, validate new applications, and demonstrate product performance.
- Lead and contribute to application development projects with a focus on bioprocessing and other strategic growth areas.
- Collaborate with global, cross-functional teams to advance technologies, strengthen application capabilities, and support commercial opportunities.
- Develop technical content and training materials, including presentations, application notes, videos, manuals, and educational resources.
- Deliver technical presentations, seminars, demonstrations, workshops, and training sessions for both internal and external audiences.
- Represent DuPont at industry conferences, technical meetings, and trade shows to showcase technologies, gather market insights, and strengthen customer relationships.
- Contribute to business growth by identifying customer needs, generating technical leads, and translating market trends into new application opportunities.
Required Qualifications- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline, or expected completion of a Ph.D. within three months.
- Up to four years of relevant experience gained through industry employment, internships, cooperative education programs, or industrial postdoctoral research.
- Hands-on experience with liquid chromatography, HPLC, or related separation and purification techniques.
- Familiarity with life sciences, biotechnology, biopharmaceutical manufacturing, or related industries.
- Strong scientific problem-solving and experimental design capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.
- Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to travel up to 20%.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting oligonucleotide, peptide, biotechnology, or biopharmaceutical purification processes.
- Customer-facing experience in applications development, technical service, or field applications.
- Knowledge of ion exchange resins, adsorbents, chromatography media, membrane technologies, or other separation platforms.
- Experience identifying customer needs and translating technical challenges into application development opportunities.
