Our Makeup Scientific Valorization team sits at a uniquely powerful intersection: where rigorous science meets the art of storytelling. We are the technical backbone behind the claims, communications, and innovations that make our makeup brands credible, compelling, and beloved by consumers around the world. We partner across every function - from Development Labs and Evaluation Intelligence to Marketing, Legal, and Global counterparts - to ensure that the science behind every product is not only sound, but powerfully communicated.

We are seeking a Senior Scientific Liaison II, Makeup Scientific Valorization to join our team at our El Segundo, California office. In this role, you will be the critical link between the science that powers our products and the stories that bring them to life - ensuring our makeup brands are backed by rigorous, substantiated, and inspiring claims that resonate with consumers and hold up to the highest standards of accuracy and integrity.

A Day in the Life: As a Senior Scientific Liaison II, Makeup Scientific Valorization, you will:
  • Own the end-to-end claims lifecycle for North America and global makeup projects - designing comprehensive testing plans, negotiating claims with Marketing, Claims, and Legal teams, tracking all projects to completion, and delivering timely, accurate updates that keep launches on schedule and on strategy.
  • Be the connective tissue across functions - serving as the primary technical partner to DMI Marketing, Claims, Legal, Public Relations, Development Labs, Product Performance Evaluation, and Zone Marketing teams, providing expert scientific advocacy that enables confident, compliant, and compelling product communication.
  • Lead platform and product category meetings independently, driving alignment across cross-functional stakeholders and ensuring that science, claims strategy, and launch timelines are fully synchronized.
  • Translate science into stories - explaining technical information, ingredient narratives, and test methodologies to both internal teams and external stakeholders in clear, compelling, and accessible language that inspires confidence and drives action.
  • Analyze and interpret test results, delivering nuanced technical insights that inform claims decisions, challenge assumptions where needed, and ensure that every claim we make is rigorously substantiated and defensible.
  • Act as a creative scientific catalyst - continuously uncovering emerging technologies, novel ingredient narratives, and market trends through literature reviews and competitive analysis, to substantiate groundbreaking performance claims and fuel innovation storytelling.
  • Create product technical dossiers to support new product proposals and launches - consolidating formula, packaging, claims, and demo information into authoritative, beautifully organized documentation that serves as the scientific foundation for every launch.
  • Review marketing concepts and artwork for technical accuracy, providing alternative language and expert advisement that ensures everything consumer-facing is both scientifically precise and powerfully persuasive.
  • Manage the Claims testing budget in close alignment with the Evaluation Intelligence team, ensuring resources are allocated strategically and efficiently across the project portfolio.
  • Mentor and develop junior Liaisons, providing project direction, sharing technical expertise generously, and actively investing in the growth of the next generation of makeup science talent on the team.
  • Coordinate sampling and testing logistics with U.S. Safety, Claims, Legal, and Evaluation Intelligence teams - ensuring the right samples reach the right labs at the right time to support a seamless, on-time testing workflow.
  • Lead broader strategic initiatives that elevate the function, strengthen our global partnerships, and advance the role of science in makeup brand building.

We Are Looking For: You're a great match for this role if you are an innovator, entrepreneur, integrator, and problem-solver who thrives at the intersection of rigorous science and strategic communication - and who is energized by the challenge of making complex technical truths impossible to ignore.
  • Education: A completed Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field is required. Experience in makeup formulation or marketing is a strong plus.
  • Experience: 5-7+ years of technical experience in personal care and/or cosmetic products is required, with demonstrated expertise in claims development, technical liaison, or a closely related function.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Deep knowledge of makeup formulation science, ingredient technology, and product performance evaluation methodologies - with the ability to assess and interpret test results across a broad range of product categories.
    • Proven ability to develop, negotiate, and substantiate performance claims in partnership with Marketing, Legal, and Claims teams, with a strong understanding of regulatory and legal standards for cosmetic claims.
    • Experience creating comprehensive technical documentation, including claims dossiers, test summaries, and scientific databases.
