Job Summary:

Caterpillar's Electric Power Division has an open opportunity as a Senior Sales Support Consultant. The Senior Sales Support Consultant serves as a technical strategist and cross-functional leader supporting complex customer engagements, with a focus on large-scale data center power solutions and next-generation architectures. This role bridges engineering, sales, and customer requirements, ensuring technically sound, commercially viable solutions are developed and communicated effectively. The position plays a key role in shaping power system strategies, particularly in hyperscale and AI-driven data center environments, including close collaboration with major customers and internal stakeholders.

What you will do:

Technical Leadership & System Architecture
  • Provide technical leadership on power system design and architecture, including AC and emerging DC solutions.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface to the customer, owning and coordinating all technical communications to ensure alignment, consistence and a unified Caterpillar position across all internal and external interactions.
  • Evaluate next-generation designs such as high-voltage DC rack systems and generator-forward architecture for both diesel and gas products.
  • Analyze tradeoffs across reliability, efficiency, operability, safety, scalability, and cost.
  • Drive meaningful strategic feedback to Engine, Package, Cooling, Aftertreatment and Solutions product development teams.
  • Support both backup and prime power strategies.

Generator & Power Integration
  • Lead integration strategies for diesel and gas generator systems.
  • Advise on load response, redundancy, and system layout.
  • Aligning customer solutions with site-level system strategies.

Customer-Facing Technical Support
  • Act as first point of contact to customer as a trusted technical advisor.
  • Support all strategic customer engagements as well as lead some.
  • Develop deep relationships with key customer stakeholders.
  • Translate technical concepts into clear messaging.
  • Develop executive presentations and proposals.

Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Coordinate across engineering, product, regulatory, and commercial teams.
  • Ensure alignment on deliverables and direction.
  • Provide strategic and insightful technical feedback to commercial team.
  • Facilitate decision-making.

Regulatory & Compliance
  • Guide emissions and regulatory compliance teams.
  • Assess impacts on design and operations.

Technical Documentation & Review
  • Review customer specifications and proposals to provide feedback with favorable Caterpillar outcomes.
  • Ensure alignment with customer needs or provide appropriate internal feedback on gaps.

Summary Pay Range:

$147,760.00 - $221,640.00
