Job Description

Position Summary:

The Senior Sales Manager is responsible for leading the sales and customer service functions for a leading aerospace fastener manufacturing operation. This position directs a team of sales professionals responsible for demand management, customer relationship management, forecasting, contract administration, order fulfillment coordination, and commercial performance.

The Senior Sales Manager serves as the primary link between customers and the organization, ensuring alignment of customer requirements with production capabilities while supporting revenue, profitability, delivery, and operational objectives. This role focuses on managing and growing existing customer relationships, driving execution of long-term agreements, improving forecasting accuracy, and partnering closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to achieve business goals and maximize customer satisfaction.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Sales Managers, Account Managers, and Customer Service personnel to achieve business objectives.
  • Establish sales objectives, performance metrics, and operating priorities that support revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Own the demand forecasting process and develop monthly, quarterly, and annual sales projections.
  • Analyze bookings, backlog, sales trends, customer demand signals, and market conditions to support production planning and financial forecasting.
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain leadership to support Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) activities.
  • Manage customer relationships with major aerospace OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and distribution partners.
  • Lead commercial discussions related to long-term agreements, pricing adjustments, contract negotiations, delivery commitments, and service performance.
  • Monitor customer scorecards and identify actions required to improve on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Production Control teams to resolve customer concerns and ensure timely communication.
  • Drive profitable growth within existing accounts through strategic account management, contract optimization, and product portfolio expansion opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sales performance, bookings, backlog, forecast accuracy, customer service, and operational execution.
  • Prepare and present sales and operational performance reviews for executive leadership.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance sales processes, customer communication, forecasting accuracy, and data visibility.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and applicable aerospace industry requirements.
  • Support strategic business planning and provide market intelligence related to customer demand, industry trends, and competitive activity.

  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing, production planning, supply chain processes, and customer contract management.


Required Experience:
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in sales, customer management, or commercial leadership roles within manufacturing, including at least 3 years leading teams in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in aerospace, preferred, otherwise experience in defense, industrial manufacturing, or highly regulated industries required.
  • Proven experience managing major customer accounts and long-term contractual relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience developing forecasts, analyzing sales performance data, and driving operational execution through cross-functional teams.
  • Experience presenting business performance and recommendations to executive leadership.


Preferred Experience
  • Aerospace fastener manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of OEM and Tier 1 aerospace customer requirements.
  • Experience with AS9100-regulated manufacturing environments.
  • APICS, supply chain, or business analytics training/certification.
  • Experience supporting SIOP and demand planning processes.


Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, Marketing, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree (MBA or related discipline) preferred.
  • Advanced training or certification in business analytics, data analysis, project management, or sales leadership is desirable.
