Senior Safety ManagerWhat we are looking for:The Senior Safety Manager is responsible for the strategic implementation and oversight of the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management system for the DC-Maryland-Virginia Area Transportation division. This role focuses on high-level risk mitigation, leadership of the field safety team, and ensuring that all project operations align with both corporate standards and client-specific requirements.
What you'll do: Leadership & Team Management
- Direct Supervision: Provide daily leadership, mentorship, and professional development for Safety Managers and Safety Engineers.
- Resource Allocation: Manage the deployment of safety personnel across various project sites to ensure adequate coverage based on risk profiles and workload.
- Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular performance reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure the safety team is meeting divisional goals.
Strategic Safety Planning
- Hazard Mitigation: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for complex foundation projects, focusing on high-hazard activities such as drilling, heavy lifting, and specialized electrical work.
- Program Implementation: Execute the "680" and overall HSE requirements as directed by the HSE Lead and Senior Vice Presidents.
- Policy Development: Assist in refining safety protocols specifically for the Foundations division to address unique environmental and structural challenges.
Compliance & Incident Management
- Audit & Oversight: Lead site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and internal Aldridge Electric standards.
- Incident Investigation: Act as the lead investigator for major incidents or "near misses," performing root-cause analysis (RCA) and developing corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Reporting: Consolidate safety metrics from the field and present detailed reports to the HSE Lead.
Client & Project Integration
- Contractual Compliance: Ensure all field operations meet the specific "Contractual Requirements" and safety credentials mandated by project owners.
- Safety Culture: Foster a "Safety First" culture by leading safety meetings, participating in pre-construction planning, and serving as the primary safety liaison for project stakeholders.
Who you are: - 10+ years in construction safety, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role overseeing other safety professionals.
- Deep expertise in foundation work, power infrastructure, and heavy civil construction.
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) preferred.
What we offer:The annual base pay for this role is between $120,000 - $160,000. The actual pay is dependent upon many factors, including: location, work experience, education, training, transferable skills, business needs, and market conditions.
